Character design

Yuki Hijiri's draft of Erika, Kazuya, Nana and Kyoshiro
  • Kazuya had short, spiky hair, unlike his canon design that has untamed, brown hair.
  • Kyoshiro was originally supposed to have long, thin, straight hair. The main reason this was changed was because the character designers decided to give Richter long hair instead, and they thought having two characters with long hair would look too similar, so he ended up with a Funny Afro instead.
  • Richter was originally meant to have short, curly hair.
  • Richter's Cool Helmet initially had a visor that covered his eyes.
  • The manga depicted Raiza with a combat suit similar to that of Richter's, implying that at some point she was planned to battle in a spar.
  • Tadao Nagahama: Robot Romance Animation Chronicle Infobook also has concept art of Erika in a battle suit (page 151). This implies that Erika, in the original draft, wasn't a pacifist.

Episodes

  • Daimos was originally supposed to be 50 episodes long. The remaining episodes after the 44th one would have the Baam-Seijin re-settle in Mars, creating a new empire with Erika as their queen. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn't the low ratings that forced the board to finish the show early. Producer Takeyuki Suzuki stated that the station wanted to focus on developing the Super Sentai series Battle Fever J, and Daimos had to be cut for timeslot purposes. It's speculated that if the anime had been allowed to finish at 50 episodes like Tadao Nagahama planned, many characters such as Raiza, Balbas and Margarete would have survived.
  • According to the Roman Robo Anime Climax Selection, this was to be the fate of Miwa:
As the departure ceremony reaches its climax and the crowds of both planets are in raptures, one man mutters in confusion, "...The Baam-seijin are traitors! The Baam-seijin cannot be trusted!...Kill the Baam!" The man, who was presumed to be a vagrant due to his tattered clothes, disappears into the crowd, while brandishing a toy gun with a dead battery that makes a harsh sound. He was none other than Sakamori Miwa, the former commander-in-chief of the Pacific Headquarters of the United Nations Earth Defense Force, but no one recognized him.

Other

  • Galva was originally a standard fighter jet.
  • Daimovic Base's spaceship form resembled King Vial from Zambot 3.
