  • Spider-Man:
    • Throughout The Amazing Spider-Man (Lee & Ditko), Peter's Aunt May repeatedly tries to get Peter to meet Mary Jane Watson, a niece of her friend. Through circumstances related to being Spider-Man, Peter has never seen her, and neither for that matter has the reader, Mary-Jane's face being hidden by scenery. Peter, meanwhile, is dubious about Ms. Watson's attractiveness given Aunt May of this era is halfway to the moon. Then, when John Romita Senior takes over, Peter finally meets MJ for the first time. And she's beautiful.
Mary-Jane Watson: Face it, tiger. You just hit the jackpot.
    • This is of course nowadays a Late-Arrival Spoiler thanks to Pop-Cultural Osmosis, but The Reveal that the Green Goblin was Norman Osborn, a prominent member of Spidey's supporting cast, was infamously shocking at the time.
    • Similar is partway through Romita Sr.'s run as artist. Norman had previously got amnesia after Spider-Man defeated him, reverting back to being an emotionally distant but not evil dad and corporate executive, but as time goes on he keeps getting reminders of his time as the Goblin. One issue has Peter and Harry stopping by Oscorp only to be told by the security guard Norman's not there, unaware Norman's looking at them from the window (after all, it's his building. Why wouldn't he know the secret entrances?)... and then the next panel reveals it's not Norman - the Green Goblin is back.
  • Heroes Reborn (2021): The series has a twofold instance. At first, the reborn universe just seems to be little more than an American exceptionalist collection of Composite Characters of existing Marvel characters and Alternate Company Equivalents of DC characters. Then comes the end of issue #4, when Doctor Spectrum and Coulson are in church and the former puts a dollar in the collection tray. The first shot is a close-up of the bill, which bears the phrase "In Mephisto We Trust", and the second is a full-page perspective shift showing Coulson and Spectrum sitting before a giant altar of Mephisto's likeness.
  • Immortal Hulk: In Issue #16, Bruce's Wham Line of "I ain't Bruce" should make it clear Bruce isn't in the driver's seat anymore, but which one is he? Well, the same page gives us a good look at his grey eyes and the Close on Title 'It's Joe', so...
  • Captain America and the Mighty Avengers: The series has something of a meta one: Issue #6 re-canonizes Nextwave in its last few panels, with Spectrum going on a whole rant about how no one ever believed those things happened to them and treated it all as a joke. The last few panels show Monica being enveloped by light and in the last one she's wearing her Nextwave duds. Then she caps it off by saying "Auntie Monica's not ☠☠☠☠ laughing", with the classic Nextwave Symbol Swearing, as if the writers were saying "Those stories are abso-☠☠☠☠-lutely canon" after years of Canon Discontinuity.
  • New Mutants: The final page of the first volume has terrorist leader Stryfe removing his helmet...to reveal he's a dead ringer for Cable.
  • During the Onslaught story arc, Onslaught rips the Gem Of Cytorrak out of Juggernaut's armor. Onslaught says that he's been waiting for this moment "his whole life"...and a shot of the person within the Onslaught armor reveals him to be Charles Xavier.
  • Red Wolf 2016: Has a rather amusing one in the last page of Issue #1. A group of young men, silhouetted at first, find Red Wolf unconscious. Then, in the last panel, one of them, his modern clothes now more clearly visible, pulls out a cellphone and callously declares he's going to tweet about it, showing that Red Wolf has been transported to the present day.
  • Thunderbolts: The last page of the first issue of this comic about a new group of never-before-seen heroes reveals: they are really the Masters Of Evil!
  • The Mighty Thor: The first issue of Walt Simonson's run did this with its cover. That's Thor's costume. That's Thor's hammer. That's not Thor. For the first time in the series, someone other than Thor is worthy of Mjolnir.
