The fourteenth film in the Land Before Time series, released on February 2, 2016, and the last so far. It is set after the TV series, and includes the first film appearance of the TV series character Ruby.

Littlefoot is awaiting his father Bron's yearly visit, but learns that Bron became stranded in a volcanic eruption. When the adults don't seem willing to do anything, Littlefoot sets out on a mission to help him, soon joined by his friends. Meanwhile, the adults make their own journey to go after the kids, joined by Chomper and Ruby.

Tropes

  • Adults Are Useless: Zigzagged in this film. Aside from the main plot being about the kids deliberately setting out to save an adult, none of the other adults seem to be willing to do anything to help. Grandpa and Mr. Threehorn do follow after the kids to make sure they're alright, but even then, they catch up seconds after the kids have already done all the work rescuing Bron.
  • Art Evolution: The animation got a big budget increase compared to the previous film.
  • Artistic License – Paleontology: A common trope in the franchise; the Carnotaurus as featured in the film is much bulkier than in real life (an artistic liberty also featured in Dinosaur), has longer hands (the Carnotaurus' hands were tiny and unlikely to be of any use) and its horns point fowards (the real dinosaur's horns would have pointed closer to the sides or even downward). Overall it more resembles a generic Sharptooth with bull horns than the actual animal. It also wouldn't be any sort of threat to a full grown Apatosaurus or Triceratops (not that it lived alongside either animal in the first place).
    • The feathered Sharpteeth are Yutyrannus. They have feathers, but not nearly as many as they would have in real life. Oddly enough they are also extremely shrink wrapped, to the point their fenestrae are visible, which is something the series doesn't usually do.
  • Continuity Porn: As the first film in almost a decade, it recaps the general plot of the first film and that of The Great Longneck Migration, as it revolves around rescuing Bron, who debuted in that film.
  • Goofy Feathered Dinosaur: The neurotic and panicky Nothronychus Wild Arms. Averted however with the menacing Yutyrannus (granted, they're far more scantily-feathered than the real thing).
  • My God, You Are Serious!: When Littlefoot announces to his friends that he is gonna save his dad from the earthquake he got trapped in.
Littlefoot: I'm going to the fire mountain to help my dad! And nothing's gonna stop me!
Petrie: [laughs] That's very funny, Littlefoot! Me thought you said you were going to fire mountain to save your dad!
Littlefoot: I did say that! I'm going!
    [Petrie's smile droops]
Petrie: You no seem funny now...
  • Never Say "Die": Usually employed, but the cast mention possibly being killed outright a few times. The opening poignantly makes mention of how "the perils of this world claimed [Littlefoot's mother]."
  • Stock Sound Effects: The T. Rex sounds from Jurassic Park are used for the Carnotaurus.
