Hey, Hey, go for it!

Team Hot Wheels is a three-movie series made by Mattel Playground Productions and distributed by Universal and later Netflix. Like all previous animated films in the Hot Wheels franchise, they're based on the toyline of the same name.

The plot involves Gage, Wyatt, Brandon and Rhett, who work for Larry, to save Hot Wheels City from any danger.

Tropes shared between multiple films:

The Origin of Awesome provides examples of:

  • Free-Range Children: The parents allow their kids to drive cars and go into a shop without asking.
  • Fourth Wall: Larry tells Rhett and Gage about his imagination getting into trouble and tells us not to forget it.
    • After falling from the loop and getting into the argument about who did, one of the members asks us if they fall at the same time.
      • Jerry tells us in the end of the movie that's it's over now.
  • No Antagonist: Rev Rod thought it was controlled by a driver named Rev. Turns out Larry called his car the Rev Rod to teach the boys about team work. Though Rhett throws water at Jerry which brainwashes his mind and steals Rev Rod. But he turns good again.
  • Partial Transformation: Rhett spills some Animal tubes on Hot Heap, Beatnik Bandit, Deroa, and Python and Brandon pulls the lever with his shirt, they transform into a Lizard, Trout, Shark, and scorpion respectively.
  • Police Are Useless: Surprisingly, they don't arrest the kidss.
  • Robot Buddy: Larry's sidekick Jerry.
  • The X of Y: The Origin of Awesome.

Skills to Thrill provides examples of:

  • Clark Kenting: Gage's dad doesn't know that his son is a member for team Hot Wheels.
  • Evil Twin: Larry's Brother Gary who tries to replace cars with a do it yourself machines.
  • Robot Buddy: Gary's sidekick Jenny.
  • To the Batpole!: Gages uses the bathroom, Brandon uses the book shelf, Rett uses the fountain, and Wyatt uses the school locker to teleport to Larry's lab.

Build the Epic Race provides examples of:

  • Captain Colorbeard: Captain Grease Beard, the leader of the Road Pirates, who outright drives a pirate ship-themed car, complete with cannons on its engine!
  • Heel–Face Turn: The monkey was on Grease Beard in the beginning but at the end of the movie, it joins Team Hot Wheels.
  • A Pirate 400 Years Too Late: The Road Pirates combine this trope with Greaser Delinquents. Special mention should go towards their boss Captain Grease Beard, who outright drives a pirate ship-themed car, complete with cannons on its engine!
  • Pirates: Captain Grease Beard leads his road pirates to get Rev Rod.
