"When the stars come out and it's night once more, it's time to go to the School of Roars!"
— The series' opening title

School of Roars is a British children’s animated preschool comedy series created by Alan Robinson for Cbeebies. The show follows five young monsters who go to a preschool at night called the School of Roars, where they have fun adventures with their kind and quirky teacher, Miss Grizzlesniff.

The series premiered in the UK on CBeebies on February 6 2017, and on Universal Kids in August of the same year in the US. It was later renewed for a second season, which aired on November 9 2020.

Super-Snufflesome Tropes:

  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Happens to Meepa in "Class Monitor", where she starts bossing her friends around after becoming the class monitor for the day, alienating them from her as a result. She snaps out of it by the end though.
  • Aerith and Bob: Wufflebump, Icklewoo, Yummble, Meepa, and... Wingston.
  • Amazing Technicolor Population: All the monster characters in the series have very bright colours.
  • Benevolent Monsters: The monsters in the series are all friendly and never have any bad intentions.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: Wingston is a sweet bat and Icklewoo is an adorable goat, but they both roar very loudly.
  • Cool House: Wufflebump lives in a volcano, Icklewoo lives in a flower windmill, Yummble lives in a giant mushroom, Meepa lives in a tree flat and Wingston lives in a castle.
  • Loose Tooth Episode: "Wobbly Tooth", where Wingston is nervous about giving his wobbly tooth to the Tooth Fairy.
  • Narrator: An unnamed voice often narrates the beginning and end of every episode.
  • New Baby Episode: "Growling Up", where Yummble becomes a big brother to baby twins.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: Wufflebump and Icklewoo are nice, Meepa is mean, and Yummble and Wingston are in-between.
  • Our Monsters Are Weird: The show is filled to the brim with strange, but unique and adorable-looking monsters.
  • Potty Emergency: Icklewoo has one of these in "Doodah", but she is too shy to ask the teacher if she could go to the toilet, which eventually leads to a Potty Failure.
  • Verbal Tic: All of the monsters go "RAAWR!", in their sentences sometimes. Wingston tends to squeak like a bat on the other hand.
  • Yellow/Purple Contrast: Icklewoo is small and has a shy personality, while Wufflebump is the largest in class and is very outgoing and friendly.
  • Your Tomcat Is Pregnant: In "Ringo", the monsters take care of Ringo, the class' pet beetle. When he goes missing however, Meepa and Yummble eventually find him in a nest, where it's revealed that she had given birth to baby beetles.
