Punch! is a Canadian Animated Series that aired on Teletoon starting January 11th, 2008 as part of their Detour block.
The series is an Office Comedy / Sketch Comedy show. The main setting of the series is at the office of Punch magazine, which mainly covers celebrity gossip and other such topics. In-between, they would show fictional biographies of Canadian celebrities, wildlife documentaries of fictional animals based on then-relevant celebrities, inside stories on various locations, and each episode would and with a music video.
The series was cancelled after a single season.
Punch! contains examples of:
- British Royal Guards: When Jordan goes to Buckingham Palace to meet the Queen, he sees some guards outside the palace. He lifts up the hat of one, curious about what's under it, and sees that the guard has a massive forehead.
- Censor Box: While going on a tour of Adam Sandler's nudist colony, Jordan and Adam are shown naked, with censor boxes over their groins.
- Lady Looks Like a Dude: In one episode, when Jordan goes to visit Adam Sandler's nudist colony, Adam tells him not to go to the lesbians' side, or else they'll "Chop off our Happy Gilmores.". Then Jordan comments that there seem to be two men there already.Adam Sandler: Naw, they're girls.
- Monster Clown: In one episode, David Suzuki states that the mime's natural predator is the clown, which here is shown as a clown with sharp teeth.
- Not a Mask: In David Suzuki's sketch about mimes, he states that, despite popular belief, mimes aren't really people in make-up. He proves this by spraying a mime with a fire hose, and showing his "make-up" isn't running.
- One-Word Title: Punch!, obviously.
- Standard Office Setting: The office of Punch! magazine.
- Turbine Blender: When Jordan goes to the island from Lost, we see Tom Hanks run in front of the crashed plane's still-running engine calling out for Wilson. He's sucked into it shortly after.
