Porky's Building is a 1937 Looney Tunes cartoon directed by Frank Tashlin and starring Porky Pig.
When the city makes plans to build a new City Hall, the mayor calls upon the only two contractors in the city, Porky and Dirty Digg. When they both submit equal bids, the mayor decides to hold a contest in which they'd both construct a building, and the one finished first would be the new City Hall. As the competition heats up, Porky's ragtag construction crew is plagued by Digg's sneaky, underhanded tactics while an eager bunny keeps asking to help. When Digg brings out an instant brick laying machine in order to win, Porky's only hope is the bunny and his super strong ears.
Tropes appearing in this cartoon:
- Construction Is Awesome: It's a whole cartoon about construction, powered by Rule of Funny.
- Fun T-Shirt: The bunny has a different job title on his shirt every time he asks for a job. When he finally gets his chance, his shirt reads "Colossal Brick Layer".
- Inventional Wisdom: For some reason, Digg's brick laying machine had a reverse setting, causing it to suck up all the bricks it had laid on his building.
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Despite his small size, the rabbit turns out to have super-strong ears, which he uses to lay bricks with amazing speed.
- Put Me In, Coach!: The bunny keeps asking Porky for a job ("How 'bout me, Porky?") only for Porky to reject him every time. He eventually gets a chance to help build the building when Porky has no other choice, and naturally ends up saving the day.
- Ridiculously Fast Construction: The bunny finishes Porky's building in less than a minute.
