Pigtail Rag is a 1987 animated Short Film by Shawn Siegel and Pigtail Productions.
An anthropomorphic pig puts on a jacket, leaves his apartment building and walks down the street as the title song "Pigtail Rag" plays. Seeing a travel poster, he jumps into it and finds himself at a concert with a band performing, other animal couples dancing and a cute lady pig noticing him. They dance and then leave together.
The film is available for viewing on YouTube on Shawn Siegel's channel.
Pigtail Rag turned up frequently in rotation as a filler segment in between programming on Nickelodeon during The '80s and The '90s.
Pigtail Rag has examples of the following tropes:
- All There in the Manual: The male and female pig are not named in the film itself. The videocassette release features a short sales pitch for shirts that names them; the male is named Pete and the female Pumpkin.
- Credits Gag: The videocassette release opens with the standard copyright notice with the header "Pig Warning".
- Fully-Dressed Cartoon Animal: The male pig, the female he meets and all the characters in this film.
- Messy Pig: Both this and Gluttonous Pig are averted as the anthropomorphic pigs in this film are not portrayed at such.
- Mind Screw: A pig jumps into a poster in a travel agency window and meets a female at a concert.
- No Plot? No Problem!: No real plot other than what's mentioned above.
- One-Book Author: Pigtail Productions produced this short...and nothing else.
