Total Television created this Saturday-Morning Cartoon for CBS in 1966. It originally aired as part of The Beagles and later as part of Underdog.
Klondike Kat (voiced by Mort Marshall) was a feline officer of the Klondike Kops (a parody of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police). He was always in pursuit of Savoir-Faire (voiced by Sandy Becker), a French-Canadian mouse who was constantly stealing food from the people of the Klondike. Savoir-Faire was accompanied by his sled dog Malamutt, who was strong enough to bend bars and break his boss out of jail.
Klondike Kat provides examples of:
- And Then What?: At the beginning of one episode, Klondike actually succeeds in capturing Savoir-Faire. However, Savoir-Faire then points out that catching him is the only job Klondike's ever had and that if he's in jail, there's nothing for Klondike to do. Klondike then spends the rest of the episode trying and failing to break his nemesis out of prison.
- Buffoonish Tomcat: Klondike Kat... that is, the bumbling, clumsy, and lucky Comedic Hero.
- Character Catchphrase:
- Klondike Kat had two: "Klondike Kat always gets his mouse," and "OH, I'LL MAKE MINCEMEAT OUTTA THAT MOUSE!"
- Savoir-Faire's is "Savoir-Faire is everywhere!"
- Major Minor, Klondike's superior, has "...And sometimes gets his Major!" in response to the first Catchphrase whenever Klondike's schemes to catch Savoir-Faire end up throttling him as well.
- Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal: Klondike Kat wears a Mountie's hat and jacket, but no pants or shoes.
- I Am Very British: Klondike's superior officer, Major Minor, is this, being a rare good guy caricature of Terry-Thomas, right down to the gap-toothed smile.
- Let's Get Dangerous!: Klondike's traps for Savoir-Faire usually fail, often in hilarious fashion, but the moment Klondike Kat gets so frustrated that he exclaims, "I'll make mincemeat outta that mouse!" you can almost be certain his next trap will work.
- A Mischief of Mice: Savoir-Faire is always stealing food from the people of the Klondike.
