Foe Paws was a 2000 animated short film (7 minutes) created by Chris Savino and produced by Hanna-Barbera Productions for the Cartoon Network. The short premiered on Cartoon Cartoon Fridays on July 7, 2000

This animated short film follows the misadventures of an eccentric old woman who tries to replace her long lost children by dressing up her cat and dog in human clothes and naming them Rolo and Vivian respectively.

Chris Savino's first film, made when he pitch a short for Cartoon Network. Genndy Tartakovsky, also was an animation Director on the short.

Foe Paws did not win the contest; the show that would become The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy won. Despite this, the test pilot is rather fondly remembered by those who got to see it thanks to its rather unique paper-like aesthetic.

Tropes:

  • Talking Animal: Rolo and Vivian talk as do all animals in their world.
  • Cat/Dog Dichotomy: Rolo the dog is hyperactive and alwasy has a positive attitude, while Vivian the cat is egocentric and very cynical.
  • Foreign-Language Tirade: Mamma Mia goes into a basically unintelligible rant in Italian when Rolo and Vivian are still naked.
  • Gender-Blender Name: The lady names the male cat Vivian, something that he complains during the short.
