Duck Soup to Nuts is a 1944 Looney Tunes cartoon, directed by Friz Freleng.

Daffy terrorizes duck hunter Porky, using many cartoonish tricks and even escaping from him from time to time.

Tropes:

  • Ass in a Lion Skin: After Porky bails out the pond, Daffy is flopping around pretending to be a fish. When Porky won’t believe that Daffy is really a fish, Daffy then says that he doesn’t believe Porky is a pig, and that he’s an eagle instead. They argue until Daffy tricks Porky into proving that he is an eagle by flying off a tall tree; when he falls off instead, Porky says “I told you I was a pig.”
  • Cranial Eruption: Daffy claims to be a phrenologist and offers to tell Porky's future by reading the bumps on his head. Porky says, "But I don't have bumps on my head." To which Daffy takes out a mallet and gives him some.
  • Determinator: Porky uses a pail to bail out an entire pond in pursuit of Daffy.
  • Disguised in Drag: One of Daffy's friends dresses up as Daffy's wife in order to get Porky to not shoot Daffy.
  • Duck Season, Rabbit Season: Interestingly, Daffy uses this to get Porky to say that the latter is an eagle instead of a pig, resulting in Porky trying to prove that he's an eagle by jumping off a tree. This example came seven years before the trope namer, "Rabbit Fire".
  • Everything Sounds Sexier in French: When showing that he's more than a regular duck, Daffy shows off his acting prowess by putting a wig on Porky and speaking in a French accent while wooing the girl that Porky's playing.
  • Furry Confusion: At the beginning, Daffy is shown in a pond with other, realistic ducks.
  • I Have a Family: When Porky is about to shoot him with his pistol, Daffy asks to say goodbye to wife and kids. When Daffy summons them and sadly says goodbye to his family, Porky starts regretting his actions and lets Daffy go. When seeing this, Daffy and his "family" starts laughing as his wife and kids undress to reveal that they're actually Daffy's friends who were paid to get him out of trouble.
  • Implausible Deniability: "Duck? Don't you believe I'm a fish?"
  • Laser-Guided Karma: After finding out that Daffy's "family" was actually just his friends, Porky immediately returns to open fire at the ducks.
  • Pop-Culture Pun Episode Title: The title is a mix of the Marx Brothers' film Duck Soup and the Three Stooges film Soup to Nuts.
  • Standard Snippet:
    • Daffy sings "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" while underwater, hiding from Porky.
    • He also sings a snippet of "Laugh, Clown, Laugh" while showing Porky his singing prowess.
  • Spiteful Spit: As Daffy’s family appears to say goodbye before Porky shoots him, the littlest kid looks scornfully at Porky and spits at him.
