The second Beano video to be released, Beano Videostars is set entirely in Beanotown Cinema and features an even bigger cast than ever. It even features a hapless reporter covering the grand opening of the video.

This series provides examples of the following:

  • Advertised Extra: Roger the Dodger was originally going to feature. He appears on the VHS cover, but not in the video itself (likely because his checkered jersey made him too hard to animate). Unlike Dennis, Minnie and the Bash Street Kids, he has never had a voice actor.
  • Alien Abduction: Dennis, on purpose to escape Cynthia, the girl who kissed him. He then realises to his horror that a female alien has stowed away on the UFO and is in love with him.
  • Animation Bump: Has noticeably better animation than the previous Beano Video — it's still on the limited side, but doesn't suffer the traced comic artwork and frequently non-existent backgrounds of its predecessor, and the remainder of the animation is somewhat more fluid.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Olive, Bash Street School's awful cook, reminding the viewers to rewind the tape after the video has ended.
  • Covers Always Lie: Roger the Dodger appears on the cover, but not in the video itself (likely because his checkered jersey made him too hard to animate).
  • First-Name Basis: Minnie's dad's first name is revealed to be George in It's A Dad's Life by his boss who calls him the name quite a few times.
  • Girls Have Cooties: Dennis is kissed by Cynthia in Dennis Meets His Match, so he jumps out of the tape and stops the film to edit out that scene so it never happened. He and Gnasher then run out of the cinema.
  • Location Song: "We're the Kids of Bash Street School".
  • Magic Plastic Surgery: Plug gets "plastic surgery", which doesn't last long, much to the horror of the school inspector, and the delight of Plug. It is a Call-Back to the first Beano Video where Teacher mentions he previously had plastic surgery.
    • Is it? This story was actually based on the Bash Street Kids' 40th anniversary story from the comic.
  • Parody Commercial: In a scene removed from the VHS but restored for the DVD, Walter asks his mother how she keeps her hands so soft after washing up, and she explains she has Dad do it.
  • The Power of Love: In Dennis Meets His Match, love is blind in Beanotown, with the cats and birds being lovesick for each other, much to Dennis' chagrin.
  • Time Stands Still: After Dennis stops the film everything except him freezes while he runs to the projection room and edits the film.
  • Tomboy: Cynthia is this, especially after Walter rejects her for her cuddly doll. Dennis brands her a true menace after she whacks the Softy with the doll, resulting in him wrecking his teacher's prize marrow.
  • 20 Minutes into the Future: After the school inspector shuts down Bash Street School and sacks the entire staff, he sends the kids to Bash Street Academy, a futuristic looking facility with a robot teacher. The robot eventually becomes a problem for the kids; he reprimands Danny for putting his hand up to ask a question and nearly vaporises him with his laser. After Plug rescues his classmates by swapping the robot's maths disc with a music CD he helped record, the robot goes haywire after getting too carried away, and explodes, taking the academy with it.
  • Twice-Told Tale: Some episodes in the video are based on actual strips from previous issues of the comic. For example, the episode The New School is based on an then-recent Bash Street strip.
