Abadas is a British/Welsh animated series from CBeebies and S4C. It takes place in a magical pop-up book owned by a boy named Ben, which, when opened, brings the Abadas' world to life. Each episode focuses on one of the Abadas, Ela the fox, Hari the hippo, and Seren the bat playing a word game, in order to find a new word, which they then introduce to the others at the end of the episode.

The show first aired on October 24, 2011, on not just CBeebies, but on Irish network RTÉ, as well as the Welsh dub on S4C and the Scottish Gaelic dub on BBC Alba all premiered on the same day. The show had 52 episodes, and the show ran from 2011 until 2012.

Episodes can currently be watched on the Wizz YouTube channel.

We'll have a, Abadaba, shooby doo wop! Abadaba, trope today!

  • Bilingual Bonus: Seren is Welsh for "star". This also explains why she has a star on her chest.
  • Character Catchphrase: All the Abadas have one.
    • Ela: "I'm wiggly happy now!" and “I’m on my way, wahey!”
    • Hari: "I'm a happy-potamus!" and “With a dash and a bump, away I jump!”
    • Seren: "Super Seren to the rescue!" and “Flippity-flappity, here I come!”
    • They all share "Yay! Go, go, Abadas!" and "Aba-doo-bee-dee!"
    • Ben ends each episode with "You really are amazing, Abadas."
  • "Do It Yourself" Theme Tune: All the Abadas sing the theme tune.
  • Every Episode Ending: Every episode ends with the Abadas saying goodbye to Ben, before he closes the book and his mother calls him.
  • Foreshadowing: On occasion, the opening segment where the Abadas play together foreshadows the word of the day.
  • Huggy, Huggy Hippos: Hari is depicted as this.
  • "I Am" Song: The "My Name Is..." song, which has the Abadas singing about themselves and their different abilities.
  • Mad Libs Catchphrase: The "I Found the Word" song. "I found the word, it was there all along, the word is... (insert episode's word here)! And now, that word is in my song!"
  • Rule of Three: Typically, the Abadas find three different items playing the word game.
  • Scatting: Almost all the songs have one portion where the Abadas scat.
  • Strictly Formula: Each episode begins with the Abadas playing together, then beginning the word game. They then ponder where they could find the word. After which, the Abadas sing about their abilities, which can help them on their adventure. The one who fits in with the word's description then jumps out the book, and into the real word. The Abada struggles to find the word at first, but then finds it, before singing another song. They then jump back into the book, and then tell the others about their adventure. After which, they sing the Wrap-Up Song.
  • Something We Forgot: The ending of "Microphone". At the beginning of the episode, Ela and Seren were making a song for Hari (which they try to keep secret). Now with the knowledge of a microphone in hand, the episode ends with Ela and Seren singing their very short song to Hari, immediately followed by the typical ending song.
  • Spoiler Title: Every episode's title is the word of the day.
  • The Nose Knows: Ela has a "special nose" which can help her sniff out the word of the day.
  • Wrap-Up Song: The simply titled "Goodbye Song" at the end of each episode.
