"You go my way and I'll go yours."

A Talkartoons cartoon starring Betty Boop, Bimbo and Koko The Clown. Created by Max and Dave Fleischer and originally released April 29, 1932.

Bimbo and Koko the Clown go hunting in a forest to try to find a fur coat to win Betty over.

Tropes Used In This Short:

  • Ass in a Lion Skin: A panther is denied entry in a leopard only clam bake, but when Koko shoots him repeatedly rather then actually harming him it just creates spots on his body making his body look like a leopard. Once the panther is fully covered he walks into the clam bake with no trouble.
  • Asteroids Monster: Bimbo gets chased by a lion and shoots it with a rifle; after the smoke clears, six lions are chasing him now. Whether the lion really did multiply or simply get five more lions for backup is unclear.
  • Attack the Tail: Breifly in the Big Ball of Violence, Bimbo can be seen biting a lion's tail.
  • Bears Are Bad News: One sneaks up behind Bimbo and attacks him.
  • Big Ball of Violence: Bimbo and Koko get into two separate ones when jumped by wild animals, which they somehow walk out victorious with the animal furs in tow.
  • Cardiovascular Love: Upon seeing Betty, Bimbo and Koko's hearts leave their chests and float in the air; then they grow faces and one kisses the other.
  • The Face of the Sun: The short opens with the sun sneezing due to the smoke emitting from the chimney of Betty's log cabin. A bird holds up a handkerchief for it to blow it's nose.
  • Fur Is Clothing: Very much so, with Bimbo and Koko stripping all the animals of their fur, leaving them cold in underwear and long-johns. Betty returns the fur clothing to the animals, but they all get mixed up, resulting in the animals wearing fur that doesn't match their sizes.
  • The Hunter Becomes the Hunted: Koko tries to hunt a seemingly harmless deer, but the deer hides behind cover, starts shooting with it's own pistol and sends Koko running in the opposite direction.
  • Instant Bandages: When Bimbo shoots the pack of lions, as soon as the smoke clears they are all fully bandaged.
  • Misplaced Wildlife: Bimbo and Koko encounter lions and leopards in a North American forest.
  • Non-Lethal Deadly Weapon: The rifles Bimbo and Koko use are shown to be very ineffectual. The bullets just bounce off a Moose they shoot at close range and a panther Koko shoots ends up decorating itself in spots rather then actually harming it.
  • Pretty in Mink: The driving point of the plot is Betty wanting a fur coat, but when Bimbo and Koko deliver, she's ashamed of them when she sees all the animals shivering (where did she think the fur would come from?) and has them all returned; except for one leopard that willingly gives her his fur to wear, which is almost twice the size of her body.
  • Pun: A clam bake is being attended by a Leopard Colony (sounding very similar to Leper colony).
  • Titled After the Song: Titled after the old folk song "A-Hunting We Will Go" which is heard in the opening credits (though "A-Hunting We Will Go" is just repeated over and over again rather then the full lyrics) and used throughout the short as a Standard Snippet.
