Wet Sand (웻샌드) is a Boys' Love Korean webtoon created by Doyak.

Jo accidentally takes a picture of Ian smoking on his balcony. Jo can't stop thinking about the handsome stranger next door, and tries to get to know him better. However, he doesn't know that Ian used to work for one of the region's biggest, most dangerous gangs and is the lover of one of its bosses.

The webtoon is available via Tappytoon Comics.

Wet Sand contains examples of:

  • Age-Gap Romance: Downplayed. Ian is 34 and Jo is 27, with Ian calling him a kid and disappointedly humored that a younger guy turned down his invitation to come over to his place.
  • Awkwardly Gay Dream: Jo has one of Ian after seeing him. Realizing he's having one of him without even knowing his name comedically makes Jo think of himself as a pervert and question his sexuality.
  • Big Damn Kiss: After talking about how Ian plays around with his one-night stands and Ian brings up that he first approached Jo only to have a one-night stand but they became closer and he's only telling Jo this because he's gotten comfortable with him, Jo tells Ian he's not comfortable around him and doesn't want him to be comfortable around him either, and leans in to kiss him.
  • Career-Ending Injury: 11 years ago TJ paid two guys to restrain Ian which accidentally ended up with him falling from the balcony of a bar, shattering his right leg and stopping him from moving to LA do to motocross. Although if he rehabilitated well he could've came back in 1-2 years and found sponsors, Ian never made it to Malibu.
  • Family of Choice: TJ calls Ian his family to Jason when he tells TJ to get married, build a foundation, and have kids. When Jason tells TJ that's not a real family, TJ retorts that Jason was the one who said Ian was family in the first place. The two used to call each other brothers and have known each other for 19 years and eventually became lovers, after all.
  • Fight Clubbing: TJ was an great illegal fighter in matches at nineteen, increasing the stakes a lot after just a few matches. He was good enough for Jason to want TJ under him.
  • Friends with Benefits: Ian and TJ. They've known each other for a long time and have had an ongoing sexual relationship for many years, but Ian has had hook ups with other men and even told TJ about his beer date with Jo. When asked by Jo if there's ever been someone he's liked or loved, he thinks of TJ and states that he had someone like that but now they're just friends.
  • Gaydar: Ian states that he has a good one and has never been wrong before when he's wondering why Jo turned down his invitation to come over to his place. He's right — Jo isn't straight and is attracted to him, he had to leave because his cousin called about the house flooding.
  • The Gentleman or the Scoundrel: Jo, the younger, good-natured family man is the Gentleman to TJ's aggressive, cunning gang boss Scoundrel for Ian.
  • Love Confession: Jo to Ian after Ian tells him he's only telling him he intended to have a one-night stand with him at first but became closer with and gotten comfortable with him and not to involve himself with guys like him, telling Ian he's not comfortable with him at all, with his palms getting sweaty and heart loudly pounding because he likes him so much, and doesn't want Ian to be comfortable around him either, leaning in to kiss him.
  • Love Triangle: A long-standing relationship or a new relationship. Ian, a retired gangster, has to choose between TJ, a notorious capo he's known for almost two decades and enjoys the dangerous life Ian wants to leave behind, and Jo, a younger amateur photographer who jumps into that dangerous life to try and free Ian from the despair.
  • Mistaken for Romance: A clingy one-night stand of Ian's asks Jo if he's Ian's boyfriend when Jo grabs him to let go of Ian. Jo, despite not being it, states that he is Ian's boyfriend to the surprise of the one-night stand, Ian, a passing dog, and Jo himself when he immediately realizes what he said.
  • More Experienced Chases the Innocent: Ian, who's had many hookups with men, and Jo, who's never been with a man and commits for a long time whenever entering a relationship. At first Ian asks Jo to get a beer with him with the intent of having a one-night stand with him, but Jo obliviously turns down Ian's offer to come back to his place and they become closer after. After asking Jo if this is his first time with a man, Ian tells him he'll be gentle. And when Jo asks to put it in, Ian asks him if he knows how, with Jo retorting that he's 27, not a teenager, and knows how guys do it.
  • Naturalized Name: Being Korean-American immigrants, Ian was born Shin Youngwoo and TJ Oh Taejoon. They call each other by their Korean names.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Jo wants to clear up with Ian that he didn't meant to take a picture of him when he accidentally took one of him when getting a picture of the night sky. Jo clears it up with an unaware Ian when he comes by to his family's restaurant.
  • One Last Job: Ian takes up one last job picking up drugs at a club and dropping them off to help pay off his remaining debt to Jason, asserting that he's done after it.
  • Refreshingly Normal Life-Choice: Ian was a gang boss who left the life of a gangster because of how morally tiring it was, to the point he became disturbed by how he felt nothing after killing someone contracted to kill him in self-defense, ending up working a welding job and paying off a debt charged for leaving the gang, with it said that he could have become rich enough to have a vacation home in Manhattan had he stayed.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Ian left K35 despite being one of its bosses due to how tiring the gang work became on his conscience, saddling him with a debt for leaving that he's been paying Jason. He intends on leaving the city as soon as he fully pays it off and disappearing for three to four years, thinking it'd be the best for him and TJ to move on from each other.
  • "Shut Up" Kiss: Ian gave one to TJ before he was about to tell him he hired the men who caused him to fall from a balcony and break his leg, stopping him from moving to LA to do motocross, because if he said it they'd be over and Ian wouldn't know if he could stand himself for forgiving him too easily.
  • Star Gazing Scene: Jo and Ian star gaze on Ian's apartment building rooftop before the meteor shower after Jo's car is stolen. Jo tells him the story of the constellation Orion and they talk about their past relationships. Jo ends up falling asleep on Ian's shoulder, with Ian seeing a meteor despite the bright city lights and trying to wake Jo up when he sees it, forgetting to make a wish.
  • Work Off the Debt: For leaving K35, Ian has been paying off a debt to Jason charging him two years' prison protection plus interest. It's why he takes up a job from the gang to pick up drugs and drop them off. Jason has been keeping all the money untouched, and tells Ian to take it after his funeral.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Jo to Ian, after telling Jo that he's good unlike him who plays around with people, not caring for his hookups' names or jobs.
Jo: I don't think you know yourself that well. The Ian I've seen is gentle and kind. And people like that need to be around good people.
Ian (thinking to himself): No, you don't know. You have no idea what life I've lived. Or what I've run from.
