"Toujours prêts à vous servir!"note
Welcome to the pharmacy! (Bienvenue à la pharmacie!), is a Canadian, french language Animesque comedy webcomic about the day to day happenings (& mishaps) at the Amiprix pharmacy, as new hire Elena joins the team. While it at first appears to be an ordinary pharmacy with ordinary clientele, things get . . . kind of weird, to say the least (let’s just say the mutated rats swiping pills that have fallen to the floor are the least-weird things you’ll find there).

It can be read here.

Welcome to the Pharmacy contains examples of:

  • Animesque: The webcomic’s artstyle is line art reminiscent of anime & manga.
  • Bishie Sparkle: How Matt is introduced, with the elderly Mrs. Ping thinking him so dashing that he must be descended from some Chinese aristocrat.
  • Blank White Eyes: When Elena can’t understand one client’s English accent, she just stands there stunned, with her eyes gone blank.
  • Body Horror: One client has his head mutate into a bug-like monstrosity. His only concern is the resulting headache.
  • Breast Expansion: Léo claims that his last prescription seems to be what caused him to grow large breasts.
Léo: I think my medicine made me grow boobs.
  • Bring My Brown Pants: After a tense moment with the mutated-head client that thankfully ends without incident, Jessica promptly mentally notes that she almost pissed herself.
  • Comically Missing the Point: One client comes in with his head having burst into a mutated, bug-like monstrosity mere minutes before the pharmacy opened - and complains about how his headache is so bad, he feels like his head is going to explode.
  • Cross-Popping Veins: When one of the clients finds out he will have to wait at least ten minutes to see the pharmacist to get some medicine for his headache, he stomps away angrily, with his elongated, mutated neck sporting several visible veins.
  • Eyes Always Shut: Mrs. Ping is always depicted with her eyes shut.
  • Flat "What": A non-verbal variation; Matt’s glasses go blank with a question mark above his head when Jessica mentions that she has the same problem he does where people assume she speaks Chinese because of her ethnicity - he had given Jean-luc the go-ahead to hire another employee because they needed someone who could help their Chinese speaking clientele, and Jean-Luc sheepishly admits he found her so cute during the interview he completely forgot to ask her what languages she knows.
  • Imagine Spot: A good deal of the humor comes from the downright bizarre things the characters think of, which is quite a feat considering how strange some of the things in their actual day-to-day encounters are.
  • Mum Looks Like a Sister: Amusingly Played With; due to a misunderstanding regarding Elena’s nephew and Strong Family Resemblance to her mother, Jessica thinks Elena’s mother is her very elderly sister. Elena is quick to clear up the confusion.
  • Not So Above It All: When Elena’s second day at the pharmacy gets off to a boring start with next to no customers, she tries to get away from Jean-Luc & Jessica gawking at her old social media posts, and notices that Matt, who always acts serious and dignified, is doing his work while reading a goofy internet article about whether pandas and red pandas are related. Shortly after that, we see in a flashback/explanation from Jessica about how he is from Mauritiusnote , and is very knowledgeable about his homeland, the computer he is looking at has another goofy article, this time about whether a rhino or a hippo would win a fight against each other.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: When Elena wonders what it was like for Matt to live in Africa, she imagines him facing off against a lion who wants to eat him because it assumes his insides taste like chow mein.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Going by her snack of choice (i.e, what bags she stocks her work locker with and leaves on her couch at home while lazing around), Jessica is fond of ketchup chips.
  • Wing Ding Eyes: Jessica thinks Elena is so cute and innocent when they are introduced, that Jessica’s eyes briefly turn into stars.
