Typical vampire defending his human wife

Charles is a vampire in a loving relationship with his elderly wife, Cheryl. Follow their day-to-day life and the humor contained within.

The webcomic is written by Scragony and can be read on Webtoons.

Originally on Canvas, the comic was eventually picked up for Webtoon Originals.

This Webcomic provides examples of:

  • Always Identical Twins: Averted in the Kids AU. Carmilla and Idun look somewhat similar and are same-gender fraternal twins.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Charles is a vampire and means no harm. Heck, even his 86 year-old wife is more threatening than he is.
  • Daywalking Vampire: Downplayed. Charles can go out during the day, though he needs to cover up if he is going to be in intense sunlight for prolonged periods of time. It is explained later own that that is because he drinks pig blood; he'd die immediately if he drank human.
  • Expressive Ears: Charles' ears emote very much like a cat.
  • Happily Married: Charles and Cheryl have been married for five decades without much drama or arguing.
Charles: Cheryl says I make her feel young. Cheryl makes me feel alive.
  • Holy Water: Exploited by Charles. Charles was given a bottle of holy water from a "priest friend" to divert suspicion away from him when livestock start to go missing. Holy water doesn't seem to do anything to him.
  • Mayfly–December Romance: Charles could live up to 1000 years or longer if he drinks human blood but Cheryl is a normal human and is 86 years old.
  • Meet Cute: Cheryl and Charles met when she asked him to help her steal her boss's car because he refused to give her her last paycheck after she was fired.
  • More Deadly Than the Male: Don't make the mistake of underestimating Cheryl because she is 86 years old. She still is feisty and she and Charles literally met when she asked him for help stealing her boss's car. Compared to her, Charles is pretty mellow.
  • Not Listening to Me, Are You?: In episode 2, when Charles tells Cheryl that he is a vampire, she first comforts him and then realizes what he just said.
Charles: I'm a vampire, okay!? I'm created to hurt you! We can't be together!
Cheryl: Charles... If you're going to do this, at least don't cry while saying it. I know you actually don't agree with it.
Cheryl: Wait... Did you say vampire?
Charles: What did you even hear?
Cheryl: It's just so rare to see you cry.
  • Not the Intended Use:
    • In episode 10, Charles uses a home pull-up bar in a door frame to hang himself upside-down for naps, like a bat.
    • In episode 12, Charles goes shopping for a coffin to sleep in.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: Charles is heavily anemic, to the point of needing 70 bottles of iron capsules.
  • Papa Wolf: In the Kids AU, Charles tells a man that tries to hit on Idun that "she's only 51" with his glowing red eyes.
  • Ridiculously Cute Critter: Rabbit Charles in episode 14 is just so adorable with his little fangs, shaggy hair, and glowing red eyes. Would be scary if he wasn't in the form of a rabbit, though.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Charles looks to be in his mid-twenties but is actually ???.
  • Romantic Vampire Boy: Charles is this to Cheryl.
  • Role Swap AU: Episode 13 is dedicated to what Human Charles x Vampire Cheryl, Human Charles x Human Cheryl, and Vampire Charles x Vampire Cheryl would look like.
  • Vague Age: In the original Canvas version, Charles is stated to be 310 years old (As displayed in the page image). When the comic was moved to Webtoon Originals, his age is now "???".
  • Vegetarian Vampire: Charles the vampire drinks pig blood.
  • Viral Transformation: To become a vampire, you must be bitten by one.
  • Weakened by the Light: Charles is severely weakened by direct sunlight, as shown in episode 5. The only reason he can survive is that he drinks pigs' blood. Vampires who drink human blood turn to ashes immediately upon touching sunlight.
  • Weirdness Censor: The local butcher thinks that Cheryl has a brilliant sense of humor when she tells him about her vampire husband, werewolf neighbor, and vampire mother and father-in-laws.
  • Werewolves Are Dogs: Charles and Cheryl's neighbor, Bob, is a werewolf but acts exactly like a big dog, including wagging is tag when he's happy. Cheryl actually mistook him for a domesticated dog at first, before Charles corrected her.
