Urban Animal is a webcomic by Justin Jordan and John Amor, where a high school student named Joe, finds out that he is a chimera. The webcomic can be found on Webtoons here.

This web comic provides examples of:

  • Abusive Parents: Sean's father beats him, and apparently his mother left because of him.
    • Kagan's family also tried to kill her as a child, so she killed them first.
  • Anti-Hero: Corkindale is the Pragmatic Hero type. He's completely fine with the idea of lying and killing for the sake of protecting the world, although he really wish he didn't have too.
  • Badass Adorable: Joe, who in spite of defeating numerous foes, becoming a leader, and growing more and more powerful, still gets flustered around girls.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Joe is a kindhearted and friendly kid who doesn't like violence and would much better prefer to live a normal life. He's also extremely powerful and increasingly better at using those powers.
  • Animorphism: Chimeras have the ability turn into animals.
  • Animal Eyes: Chimera's eyes change when they transforms.
  • Big Bad: The webcomic has a interesting situation were for most it doesn't have a definitive Big Bad at first, instead having several threats pilling up in massive destructive explosions.
    • Ralabast is introduced as the main villain, and prophesied to fight Joe. He's not, both because he's Joe's former incarnation, and because he was actually trying to protect Nature (ie. The World) from destruction.
    • Big Bad Wannabe: Most villains of the story tend to be this to some degree.
      • The Devourers of season two are a powerful trio of witches that manages to bring some serious damage to the heroes But by the end of the season, after being discovered, they plans fall apart near instantaneously. They die just after achieving their goals and and their attempts to undermine the heroes only brings them together.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones:
    • Kagan, who worst actions were motivated by her love for Ralabast.
    • The Devoures, having lived and worked for centuries, take care of each other have an easy camaraderie, casually joking while comiting incredible acts of cruelty to others.
    • Romulus and Arachne are both bloodthirst and urenpentant Sadists, who nevetheless love each other and when Arachne dies Romulus gives up on fighting altogether
  • Green Thumb: Stronger chimeras can manipulate nearby plant matter for various purposes, such as entangling their foes in vines or creating clothing from fibers.
  • High School: Most of the main cast are students or staff.
  • The Hero: Joe is the hero of the story.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Romulus, Remus and all the members of The Order of The White Wolf are chimeras capable of morphing into wolves.
  • Time Abyss: Since chimeras cannot die from old age, many of them have lived for a very long time. Kagan was the first chimera born as a human, making her around 200,000 years old, and later Ralabast/Joe is revealed to be the very first living cell .
