Webcomic / Unauthorized Justice

Go To

Unauthorized Justice is a webcomic made & by Empire-of-the-East (Fanfic Writer), previously known for Flashpoint 2: Advent Solaris; it was launched in May of 2022. The comic currently lacks it's own website, but can be found on Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram and - easiest to read - Archive of Our Own. It can be read here.

The comic takes place on Earth-66667, a DC universe that has never before been explored. Influenced heavily by the likes of Young Justice (2010) & Teen Titans (2003), the story drops things off after a fair bit of time has already passed in order to focus on the likes of Robin, Superboy, Aquaboy and Beast Boy as they come together to forge a new team of Titans to prove themselves capable of being their own heroes outside the shadows of their mentors. Little do they know that at the same time, their universe is being invaded by a mysterious force of evil that is able to take on even the greatest of DC villains.

Has the following tropes:

  • Alternate Continuity: Earth-66667 is a DC Earth that has never been featured in any comic, show or movie prior to Unauthorized.
  • Continuity Reboot: As of October 2023, there is an ongoing rework of the storyline in the form of, well, this. In a departure from how most DC universes handle things though this reboot was simply a silent proverbial pressing of a reset button without the involvement of a universe-ending crisis event. It literally just silently rebooted.
  • Meaningful Name: The "Unauthorized" in the comic's name refers to the fact this is a fan-made comic rather than one supported by the finances of the WB-DC-Discovery Corporate family.
  • Numberofthe Beast: The Earth's number is 66667.
  • Two Girls to a Team: The newly unveiled cover to the comic reveals Raven and Nightstar to the team, who are the only female characters featured in what's otherwise a team of teenage boys.
  • Take That!: A significant motivation behind the comic's creation, as well as the core reason why the Superboy design from 2019's Reign of the Supermen is used unchanged is purely as an act of revenge against the way the DCAMU ended. This is confirmed (multiple times) in the comic's disclaimer pages.

Pre-Reboot (Pages 1-9)

These tropes only apply to the original Pages 1-9 of the comic, which were deleted from the Archive of Our Own page following the silent continuity reboot.
  • Adaptational Wimp: As is typical of Empire's DC works, the Paradooms. They only appear in 2 panels of the entire comic, and are shown painfully melting to goop after trying to charge & eat an inter-dimensional demonic black cloud. Also arguably, of all DC characters, Darkseid who dies not long after his creations.
  • All There in the Manual: Pages 6-9 serve as a recap of the timeline up to the current year to catch readers up on what happened prior to the beginning of the main storyline.
  • Disc-One Final Boss: For the first time in a DC Universe, Darkseid. Yes, you read that right. And no it's not marked as a spoiler. He dies on the third page, of the overall comic.
  • Eaten Alive: How Darkseid is implied to have been killed.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: The new villain appears first as a formless cloud that quickly evolves into a giant snake as it approaches Darkseid's throne room.
  • Villain of Another Story: Darkseid, fucking Darkseid. It is stated later on that he was responsible for the incident which created the Justice League of this universe, but at the moment Unauthorized drops us off, Darkseid is literally obliterated by a new villain on Page 3
