Webcomic / Thicc-Verse

Go To

Thicc-Verse is a Fan Webcomic by Chillguydraws that chronicles the future lives of characters from a set of popular shows from The Millennium Age of Animation... as well as their love lives. While originally hosted on Tumblr, the comic can be found on the creator's NewTumbl blog for immediate updates and a PillowFort blog to serve as a chronological backlog.

This webcomic provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Sexuality: While most characters rarely stray from their established inclinations (and thus their canon relationships are maintained), there are a few exceptions. For example, Sid Chang is asexual here while it has yet to be implied in the source show.
  • Alternate Universe Fic: The Star vs. the Forces of Evil part of the Thicc-Verse takes this route when Marco decided to stay in the Neverzone with Hekapoo, resulting in a huge departure from the show's plot compared to the others.
  • Big Beautiful Man: Steven has grown into this.
  • Canon Welding: This is employed to fit these disparate shows together to some degree.
  • Character Blog: The Gravity Falls storyline had its start with the ''Ask Thiccifica'' blog featuring the now older Pacifica on Tumblr that later introduced the major players in the cast before it evolved into the proper webcomic. There was also a short-lived CuriousCat one where fan questions were answered by one-panel comics featuring any of the cast.
  • The Cameo: One comic has Wendy chatting with Clint Barton at a party.
  • Fanservice: The premise of this media is built on this, with many of the characters being given attractive figures.
  • Fan Verse: In addition to bringing in the casts of Gravity Falls (which has the primary focus), Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, The Loud House, and OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes, there are various fan-made elements that have been incorporated in some capacity. For example, Dipper and Mabel Gleeful have made some infrequent appearances.
  • Halloween Episode: The plot threads take a break once a year around this time to explore other stories that fit the theme, usually taking place in alternate universes. April Fools' Day has a similar gimmick that messes with the medium or hint at some Bad Future, all Played for Laughs.
  • Hartman Hips: Many female characters have curvy bottoms, but Pacifica takes the cake. In fact, the entire verse began with an ask-blog about a more shapely version of her.
  • Heroic Build: A good portion of the male cast is this, special mention going to Dipper Pines.
  • Incest Subtext: Quite a few incest jokes are made when possible, though they're more prominent in The Loud House comics.
  • Hotter and Sexier: The charcter all have very attractive figures, whether it be the bodybuilder physiques of Dipper and Marco, or the enlarged bosoms and hips of Pacifica Mabel and other females. The carcters are all varying degress of horny, and sex is often alluded to, joked about and shown (albeit, not explicitly).
  • The Multiverse: Strongly implied to be going this route at some point.
  • Porn with Plot: With much of the cast having reached adulthood (or at least the age of consent), there are occasional sex scenes alongside the various hook-ups (though the action is primarily implied or just off-screen).
  • Reincarnation: One of the connective tissues Adventure Time has to the other shows taking place in times is Finn's reincarnation cycle. In this case, one of his past incarnations turns out to be Connie Maheswaran, down to both of them ending up with multi-use prosthetic arms.
  • Relationship Upgrade: There are a few pairings with Unresolved Sexual Tension in the original shows that got their dues here (i.e. Dipper & Pacifica, Lincoln & Ronnie Anne, etc.).
  • She Is All Grown Up: A general reaction to many characters reuniting upon not seeing each other since childhood. This was a defining moment when the Pines twins return to Gravity Falls and reconnect with Pacifica and Wendy.
  • Time Skip: The webcomic takes place after an unspecified number of years where the cast now consists of adults.

The Gravity Falls comics provide examples of:

  • Euphemistic Names: The central characters were assigned nicknames of their characters based on their appearances or personalities.
  • Journey to Find Oneself: Sometime after the show's events, Wendy had one taking her across the country and back again before reuniting with the Pines twins.
  • You Don't Look Like You: An In-Universe example where Mabel is going over her scrapbook made during her and Dipper's return to Gravity Falls when she notices one of Dipper's earlier pictures shows him to look less built than his current appearance. This leads to her and rest of the girls to find out Dipper's secret: he got his muscular build from the Manotaurs' Super Serum and used a memory eraser gun to make everyone forget his skinnier appearance. This was a desperation move as he noticed that nearly all their peers have gained attractive builds except for him.

The The Loud House comics provide examples of:

  • Big Brother Instinct: Lily is overtly protected by her platoon of older siblings, even to the point that they won't allow her to wear provocative swimwear in public.
  • Commitment Issues: At the start, Ronnie Anne and Lincoln were reluctant to make their relationship official (or at least refer to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend), opting for a more open relationship. This comes to a head when Ronnie Anne catches Lincoln and Carlotta in the act, building up to her making the first move of claiming what's hers.
  • Their First Time: Ronnie Anne believes that both her and Lincoln lost their virginities to each other. When it's brought up in a conversation, Lincoln reluctantly agrees to it. In reality, Lincoln's first time was a few years prior with one of his sisters.
