The Four of Them is a drama Webtoon created by Mai Hirschfeld. The story revolves mostly around four teenagers; Johnny, his best friend Gaby, Martina and Mariel. Johnny has been crushing on Mariel for years only for her to start dating someone else, Johnny's sister Micaela. Each of them deals with their own issues and ups and downs, and hopefully figure out some things. It ran from January 28, 2019 to November 7, 2022.

The series is being adapted into a live-action web series.

Contains examples of:

  • Always Second Best: Johnny with his younger sister Micaela: he was scolded for hitting her after she broke something. Then she grew stronger than him, ran faster than him, and got better grades than him. She is even better than him in video games. And then she gets a girlfriend before him. And that girlfriend was his crush Mariel - whom he never told of his feelings towards her.
  • Bi-Wildered: Gaby struggles with the realization that he has a crush on Martina having only liked guys before. His older brother helps him accept that he's Bi instead of Gay. Gaby then eventually confesses to Martina.
  • Bookends: The first episode has Mica beating Johnny in stealing food. In the last episode, Johnny finally beats her in stealing food.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Most of the cast is fairly snarky (being teenagers), but Gaby seems to have snark as his default setting especially around Johnny and Martina. Micaela is also snarky with everyone (especially Johnny), except Mariel.
  • Did Not Get the Girl: Exaggerated: Johnny never even gets a chance to confess to Mariel before his sister gets together with her. This happens in the very first episode.
    • To try to move on from her, he tries to get hooked up with other girls. He ends up declining one kiss from a 17-year-old named Monica at a party. He then develops a relationship with a girl named Oriana, but he later breaks it off. They later get their own boyfriends.
      • Thankfully, Johnny managed to avert this trope after he and Josefina became a couple.
    • Subverted by Gaby with Martina, who has no interest in relationships whatsoever, and he doesn't want to change it.
    • Also subverted with Micaela and Mariel: Micaela gets her, but they suffer from too many problems that lead to the end of their relationship.
  • Ensemble Cast: Johnny is introduced as the main character and his struggles to move on from Mariel are the focus of Season 1. Eventually Gaby's, Mariel's, and Martina's issues are given more focus.
  • Gilligan Cut: After arguing with Micaela about her getting a girlfriend before him, he has a monologue where he waxes lyrical about how beautiful his classmate Mariel Bemberg is and how he will someday confess his feelings for her... cue Mariel coming into the house with Micaela wrapped around her arm introducing her as her girlfriend.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Johnny, Gaby, Mariel, and a number of other characters have it in spades, and it leads to endless mishaps and misery. In the case of Mariel, it costs her her relationship with Micaela.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: Early on Gaby tells Martina he has a crush on her as a joke. Later he actually does develop feelings for her, much to his confusion.
  • Trailers Always Spoil: The trailer actually starts with the twist that Johnny's sister got together with his crush.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: Gaby and Johnny, having basically grown up as brothers, and Johnny being one of the few people who knows Gaby is Gay (not that it's a secret). Gaby also usually ends up in friendly Snark-to-Snark Combat with Martina prior to him realizing he might just have a crush on her.
  • Wham Shot: The scene where Micaela introduces Mariel to the family as her girlfriend.
