Webcomic / The Flower That Follows The Sun

Go To

A Touhou Project fan doujin written and drawn by Yokochou. It can be read here.

One day in Gensokyo, Marisa Kirasame arrives at the Garden of the Sun uninvited... only to find Yuuka hugging someone who looks just like her, only much younger. Hijinks ensue... but where did the little Yuuka come from, anyway?

This comic contains examples of:

  • Ass Shove: Cirno receives a kanchou from Youka, using Kogasa's umbrella.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Youka disappears, but her spirit lives on in one of Yuuka's sunflowers. It's implied - and shown in later comics by Yokochou - that she can reconstitute herself, given enough time.
  • Cheerful Child: Youka is full of energy and happiness.
  • Cuteness Proximity: Youka inflicts this on anyone she happens to meet.
  • Empathic Environment: When Yuuka is sad, the flowers in the Garden of the Sun droop.
  • In-Series Nickname: "Youka" for the little Yuuka, replacing the first character in "Yuuka" with the kanji for "child".
  • Is That Cute Kid Yours?: Everyone assumes Youka is Yuuka's daughter, much to her dismay. She eventually comes around to Youka calling her "mama", right before she passes on.
  • Not So Stoic: Yuuka holds herself together for a while after Youka disappears, but while talking with Reimu, she eventually cracks completely. This is contrasted with Marisa, who breaks down within minutes of finding out.
