The Developer's Life is a webcomic written by André Noel. It is focused on themes related to computer programming and system development. Almost all of the strips feature real accounts of fellow programmers. The strips portray the struggles endured by the programmers when dealing with users, clients and even obnoxious bosses; due to this, its humor is best understood when one has a programming background. Most of its content is available in Portuguese, but the author is slowly translating the comics to English.

This strip provides examples of:

  • Flat Character: The characters are given only the depth required to deliver the jokes.
    • The Programmer doesn't have distinct features.
    • P.A. also doesn't have distinctive features and is presumed to be as smart as the Programmer, since he often chats with the Programmer in a non-snarky way.
    • Jimmy think that he knows everything.
    • Alonso often does dumb remarks.
    • The Boss also often does dumb remarks and is, in general, a Pointy-Haired Boss.

  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: As seen here.

  • One-Word Title: As seen here, here, here and in many other comics.

  • Pointy-Haired Boss: Most of the time, The Boss is portrayed as an obnoxious dumb person who doesn't understand a thing on how software programming is done.

  • Recurring Character: Several of them.
    • The Programmer always has a cup of coffee nearby and wears square glasses with a black t-shirt.
    • P.A. has straight, blonde hair and wears a white t-shirt. Often the shirt has "Ask Google" written in it.
    • Alonso has straight, short hair and is always with a white shirt.
    • Jimmy has short, curly hair and a long nose. The nose may be indicative of his tendency to exaggerate its own skills.
    • The Boss has short hair and wears rectangular glasses and a suit.
