"Don't act like this isn't something you want."

Something You Want is a webcomic by Kira H. that can be found at; https://somethingyouwantorg.wordpress.com/

Maitho Rothbauer takes over his uncle's struggling deli, and worries that the shop will have to close over the lack of customers. His life changes dramatically when his old flame Caprice Dean comes back into town, needing a job and some company, along with a strange new customer, Cooper Foster, befriending Maitho and offering to help his business. Maitho's joy is shortlived, however, when he realizes that Caprice is still carrying the baggage of her clingy ex and Cooper's method of conducting business is far more gruesome than he was expecting.

The comic should be assumed to be prematurely concluded following Kira's untimely passing after a long fight with cancer.

This comic shows examples of the following tropes:

  • Addled Addict: Vinny. He's gotten so desperate that he even steals money from the underground cannibalistic black market that he works for. To make matters worse, he's destroyed his body with alcohol and drugs, preventing his meat from being used as "product". This means that Cooper gets to slaughter him as violently as he wants.
  • Ambiguously Brown: Cooper is originally Turkish, but not much else is known about his exact race.
  • Art Evolution: The first few pages were essentially created as a joke to sum up the premise of the comic for when it eventually started. Kira got more and more into it until the joke pages wound up becoming the start of the actual comic.
  • Big Guy, Little Guy: Maitho and Cooper.
  • Black Comedy Cannibalism: Despite being a mostly dark comic, there are several jokes about the cannibals that Maitho has to deal with, especially in chapter one.
  • Bloody Horror: Being a webcomic about a butcher taking part in an underground cannibal market, it's bound to have a lot of gore.
  • Cannibal Clan: Kit and Megan are heavily implied to be a part of one.
  • Cast Full of Gay: Maitho, Caprice and Vinny are Bi, Joe is Gay, Mariella is a Lesbian, Scotty is Pansexual.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: There are a few posts on Kira's tumblr that mention Cooper's childhood. It has not been stated exactly what happened to him in his youth, but judging from what is shown, it wasn't nice.
  • Devil in Plain Sight: Cooper is obviously up to no good when Maitho first meets him. Maitho does not notice.
  • The Dragon: Cooper is implied to be his Boss's right hand man.
  • Emo Teen: Kit is never seen wearing anything except black.
  • Empty Eyes: Maitho gets them the first time he chops up human meat.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Joe, another member of the human meat market has a daughter who he loves more than anything.
  • Evil Old Folks: A small, frail-looking old lady approaches Maitho at the checkout counter during work. She's there to buy human liver to eat, calling Maitho an idiot for even asking what her intentions were.
  • Fingore: Cooper gets his fingers badly hurt when he uses them to protect his throat from Montgomery's attempted strangulation with a bike chain.
  • The Faceless: Cooper's boss has not had their face, name or gender revealed yet, only being referred to as "H". Caprice's abusive ex-boyfriend Felix also never has his face shown, even when the rest of his body is shown.
  • Gentle Giant: Maitho.
  • Hidden Harasser: Caprice's abusive ex boyfriend-turned-stalker is never seen.
  • Horrible Judge of Character: Maitho befriends a serial killer who makes a living selling human meat in some kind of underground market. And also develops a massive crush on him.
  • Horror Hunger: Montgomery craves the taste of human flesh constantly.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Since the comic is about a butcher being manipulated into selling human meat, this is to be expected.
  • Impromptu Tracheotomy: Maitho delivers one of these to Montgomery.
  • Killing in Self-Defense: Maitho kills Montgomery after he tries to strangle Cooper and attacks Maitho for intervening.
  • Lipstick Lesbian: Mariella.
  • Love Triangle: Maitho struggles to choose between his relationship with Caprice and his attraction to Cooper.
  • Mean Boss: Cooper's mysterious boss has Vinny kidnapped and slaughtered after he is caught trying to keep some of his customer's payments to himself, rather than turning it in to the organisation.
  • The Napoleon: Cooper is a ruthless, violent murderer who stands at only 5'4.
  • Nervous Wreck: Caprice is usually a laid-back, friendly person, but the simple act of receiving a phonecall or walking to work has her practically shaking with paranoia and fear after what her Ex put her through.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When Maitho, usually a quiet, soft guy, screams at Cooper after being threatened by Montgomery, Cooper knows that he is at the end of his tether and considers reporting it to his boss.
  • Perky Goth: Mariella wears almost exclusively black, she's also constantly smiling.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Maitho went from having a crush on Caprice in highschool to becoming her friend with benefits.
  • Serial Killer: Cooper is implied to have murdered countless people.
  • Ship Tease: Several. Maitho x Caprice, Caprice X Mariella, Maitho X Cooper, Cooper X His Boss, Joe X Vinny
  • Shout-Out: One page has a TV advertising a new cartoon called Coupon Kids, which is actually another webcomic run by Kira's close friend Mira W.
  • Smitten Teenage Girl: Megan seems to have a crush on Maitho, much to his confusion and discomfort.
  • The Stoner: Mariella's idea of a girls' night with Caprice is them sitting at home and smoking weed.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Mariella is 5'11 and very pretty.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Maitho and Mariella are both tall and blonde, like their fathers.
