Philler Space
is a webcomic started in 2005 by Alex Asper.
Philler Space contains examples of:
- Alien Abduction: Aliens abduct Philler, just because they like torturing humans.
- All Psychology Is Freudian: One arc has Philler split into three beings: his id, ego, and superego.
- Author Avatar: Alex, the creator of the Philler Space comics, shows up multiple times and manipulates the story. He's represented with photographs instead of drawings.
- Comic-Book Time: Characters age slower than real time, but the present is always the real time date.
Lampshaded:Max: What trimester were we in when we all went to see Eragon?
Philler: First part of freshman year. Duh.
Max: And when did Eragon come out?
Philler: December 2006.
Max: And what's the date today?
Philler: May 2008.
Max: And yet, despite a 1½ year difference, we're still in the first part of our freshman year. Doesn't that seem odd to you?
Philler: No, just really, really depressing. - The Conspiracy: The Nega-Space club is a secret group dedicated to tormenting Philler.
- Couch Gag: Every comic has different text before the title.
- Cut and Paste Comic: Images are frequently reused between comics.
- Evil Twin: Ephil Twinn looks just like Phillernote but is his complete opposite. Subverted in that Philler and Ephil are both morally grey.
- The Faceless: Brick's face is always out of frame or covered.
- Gone to the Future: Philler travels 20 years into the future, into a timeline where he has been missing for 20 years.
- High School: The series begins on Philler's first day of high school.
- Literal Split Personality: One arc has Philler split into three beings: his id, ego, and superego.
- Monochrome to Color: Alex shows up to announce the comic switching from (mostly) greyscale to colour.
- Palette Swap: Ephil looks just like Philler except for their palettes.
- Pixel Art Comic: With exceptions, the art is composed of solid colours with aliased borders.
- Protagonist Title: Philler Space is the full name of the protagonist.
- Symbol Swearing: In one arc, characters find some of their swearing is replaced by random symbols, and try to figure out which words get censored.
