Nine Twilights
is a Webcomic about an Ordinary High-School Student named Wanda Dusekova who one day learns she is the Chosen One, in this case, the reincarnation of Odin the All-Father. Her "son" Baldur confronts her with her destiny, to seek out the eight other reincarnated gods on Earth... and there's a time limit...
The comic began in April of 2016 and is a collaboration between Anne Mortensen-Agnew (writer), Andrea Rosales (artist), and Chris Hansborough (editor).
Nine Twilights contains examples of:
- All of the Other Reindeer: The other kids at Wanda's high school make a point of excluding and picking on her because she's Romani.
- Animesque: The premise itself is reminiscent of Ikki Tousen, but the execution is similar to Sailor Moon.
- Angst: At the beginning, Wanda suffers from major teen angst over being bullied at school.
- Are You Pondering What I'm Pondering?: In chapter two, Wanda and Sari have divergent ideas about what to do with Wanda's newfound freedom.
- Disappeared Dad: Wanda's father is nowhere to be seen. Dialog implies his is dead.
- Doomed Hometown: Shortly after learning about her true identity, Wanda's home is attacked by Draugr.
- Flashback: A one-page one to when Wanda was a wee girl appears here.
- Gray Rain of Depression: A sad rain falls as Wanda lets herself have a good cry. As she is in tropical Indonesia, the rain doesn't last too long.
- Heavenly Blue: Odin is the god of the sky, and Wanda's magical colors are sky blue and midnight blue.
- I Never Told You My Name: Baldur points out that Wanda knew his name without being told. This is what convinced her that his story was true.
- Mystical White Hair: Baldur sports white hair in a long braid.
- Polly Wants a Microphone: Huginn and Muninn, two pied ravens, aren't afraid to give Baldur pieces of their minds.
- Refusal of the Call: An unusually violent one, as Wanda chucks a magical runestone at Baldur's head.
- Shopping Montage: Wanda and new friend Sari share one (which includes dancing and eating) in chapter two.
- Teleportation: After her awakening, Wanda inadvertently teleports herself from the Czech Republic to Jakarta, Indonesia.
