My Latte Buddy is an ongoing Slice of Life webcomic debuting on Webtoon in February 2022, drawn and written by circulamnyu.
The comic centers around Cormac, a coffee shop barista working at their parents' coffee shop; "The Evening Grove". While watching a tutorial video online on how to make dog-shaped whipped cream art, Cormac wishes they could do better...and the latte suddenly comes to life. And they both have so many questions about this situation.
Initially releasing as a four-part prologue, the webcomic was then divided into conventional issues a month later, with updates every Saturday and Sunday, click here to start from the beginning.
The comic is now finished, running for a total of 13 weeks and 26 pages.
My Latte Buddy provides trope examples of:
- Ambiguous Situation: It's unknown how the Latte started talking, which Cormac tries to figure out initially.
- It Makes Sense in Context: Cormac's reaction when being found talking to a latte.
- Luminescent Blush: Cormac has a permanent case of this.
- Meaningful Name: Of the names Cormac narrows down, they are puns of Doppio espresso coffee; and chooses Puppio to fit with the dog motif.
- Oh, Crap!: Cormac in Prologue Page 4, justifiably so, as the Latte has just began to talk! It takes a few issues to process over what just happened.
- Shout-Out: Of the few names Cormac initially decides on, Katakuri is one of the last remaining; a character from One Piece.
- Shrug Take: Cormac's parents' reaction to Puppio the Latte speaking.
- Sure, Let's Go with That: Cormac, unable to speak, has Audre ask if they are talking to themselves, which they go along it.
- Strong Family Resemblance: Cormac and her mother look practically identical, save for some jawbone lines on the latter.
- Thinking Out Loud: Cormac has a habit of doing this apparently, judging by Audre's expression.
