Lovecraft Girls, full title Lovecraft Girls or How To Prevent The Apocalypse is a comedy-horror webcomic written by Merryweatherey with art by AT2.

It follows the adventures of sisters Nyarlathotep and Hastur, two Eldritch Abominations currently living their best lives in the far-off future metropolis of New England in 2060. Though originally sent to destroy mankind, both of them found they rather liked humans and decided to rule over them instead. Unfortunately, their little sister Cthulhu has awoken as well. And she does not share their fondness for humans.

Can they convince her to spare humanity or will this be the end?

Merryweatherey continues his trend of re-imagining things as cute girls in this charming and frightening adventure. Compare I Made A Comic About Internet Explorer, another one of Merry's works which turns browsers into cute girls.

Lovecraft Girls contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Let us put it this way: You'd certainly never see the original Hastur and Nyarlathotep do things like complement humanity on their technological advancements.
  • Big Little Sister: Zig-zagged with Cthulhu. She's the youngest of the three sisters and almost a head smaller than Nyar and Hastur when in her human form, but in her true form she towers over both of them and is implied to be the strongest of them all, which is why her sisters are so terrified when she wakes up.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: The majority of Hastur's and Nyar's followers have fallen victim to the pair's mind-warping powers.
  • Color-Coded Characters: The three main leads all have a color associated with them. Hastur is yellow, befitting her "Queen in Yellow"-title, Nyarlathotep is black and green and Cthulhu is light blue.
  • Creepy Twins: Nug and Yeb provide enough ominousness to scare a boy away.
  • Gender Flip: Not that that means much when it comes to eldritch beings, but in the original Lovecraft-stories Hastur, Nyarlathotep and Cthulhu were all referred to as male, whereas in this comic they're female (or at least have female appearances).
  • I Have Many Names: Nyarlathotep has a bunch of epithets and titles beside her actual name: The Black Pharaoh, Stalker Among the Stars, the Goddess of a Thousand Forms and the Crawling Chaos.
  • Inciting Incident: Cthulhu waking up starts the actual plot of the comic.
  • Lovecraft Lite: Zigzagged. Cute exterior aside, the monsters are still very much lovecraftian abominations and it shouldn't be overlooked that they managed to make a great portion of humanity into their obedient thralls merely by existing. Their current forms are also merely glamours they put on to accommodate their new lifestyles. Beneath it all they're still horrifying otherworldly beings who could lay waste to humanity if they wanted to.
  • Loved by All: Nyarlathotep is adored by the masses. Wherever she goes, there will usually be large crowds of supporters and cheering fans proclaiming their love for their undying mayor.
  • Misanthrope Supreme: Cthulhu hates humanity and is enraged when she finds her sisters have not destroyed them as they were supposed to when she wakes up.
  • Moe Anthropomorphism: Merry's at it again, this time with eldritch abominations.
  • Universally Beloved Leader: Hastur's cult worships the ground she walks on. All it takes is one look at her sign and they're her devoted servants forever.
