There's no lock Detective Dobin Kim can’t open. He has the power Opener, which allows him to open anything from a locked door to a person's heart, and he's been using his powers for years as a police detective. His life is turned upside down when he encounters the Locker, another person with powers like his, which she can use to lock or seal anything, and not even Dobin's ability can break through her seals. When Locker uses her ability to lock away the memories of a key witness, the two are thrown into an intense cat and mouse chase with Dobin swearing to bring Hamju Gong, the Locker, into custody. Unfortunately for Dobin, Hamju has plans of her own for the detective.

Locker and Opener was originally a Naver webcomic which received an official English translation on the Webtoons app.

This work contains examples of:

  • An Offer You Can't Refuse: When Hamju offers Dobin the chance to join her crew, she does so from the top of a construction crane she has him tied to and also notes that she could just seal away his memories if he says no.
  • Bad Ass In Distress: Hamju manages to kidnap Dobin and tie him to a construction crane, but she doesn't realize that his unlocking power can also be used on ropes.
  • Bond Villain Stupidity: After Hamju locks Dobin's knowledge of her being the locker, she can't help but go up to him in person and try to taunt him about it. She very nearly gets arrested for her troubles.
  • By-the-Book Cop: Played with through Dobin. He follows the rules as much as he can, but is willing to do drastic things with his powers if it means taking dangerous criminals off the street.
  • Chick Magnet: Dobin is quite handsome and has had at least three women fall in love with him in the story without him having to use his powers to make them fall in love with him.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: The cast eventually run into the Mixer, a serial killer who targets those he views as sinners. He's used his ability to twist and mix anything to destroy the brains of his victims, and he often does this beforehand.
  • Cut Lex Luthor a Check: Hamju and her crew make money when criminals hire them to lock things and people.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Detective Dobin used his power on his mother when he was young and found out how resentful she was of life as a single mother. He was also in love before and given the fact that his then girlfriend is nowhere to be seen, it probably didn't end well for her.
  • Genre Savvy: When Hamju decides to threaten Dobin from the top of a construction crane, she has the foresight to put on a safety harness.
  • Hero with Bad Publicity: One arc is about Dobin going on trial for killing the Mixer. Since most people don't know that people with superpowers exist, nobody realizes that he had no choice but to kill him to keep him from destroying a dam and killing countless people.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Hamju can use her locking powers to invoke this by sealing away a person's memories.
  • Shown Their Work: When Hamju falls from a great height and only survives thanks to a safety harness, she's hospitalized for quite some time.
  • Villainesses Want Heroes: Hamju eventually declares that Dobin is her type, and that she'll seal away his memories so that she will have absolute control over him.
  • We Can Rule Together: Towards the end of the Loss of Reality arc, Hamju offers Dobin the chance to join her crew.
