Grand Ma
is a Slice of Life Webcomic created by Gurei in 2023.
Minh note , a florist, is the only mortal that can see supernatural beings. Minh lives with Grandma Hoang, a ghost who cannot leave their apartment. The comic follows their day-to-day lives and the situations they get themselves into that would be mundane, if they weren't with the supernatural.
Grand Ma provides examples of:
- Cheshire Cat Grin: Branko, a Bauk, has a wide Cheshire cat grin.
- Cross-Popping Veins: Minh has one of these during Episode 13 while losing their temper babysitting Bloody Mary's children.
- Entitled Bastard: The businessman that barges into Minh's shop in Episode 1. He scolds them for asking him to use his indoor voice, demands them to ignore the other customer's orders, and accosts them. He leaves, saying that he would leave Minh's shop a bad review online.
- Gentle Giant: Felix, a Mètminwi delivery person, is taller than Minh's apartment building, and is nothing but kind and considerate to them and Hoang. He apologizes for scaring Hoang, agrees to reschedule a delivery of an item they weren't ready for, and tries his best to avoid disturbing humans.
- Gashadokuro: Instead of an ordinary bus, supernatural creatures take the "Gashadokuro line", which is basically a Gashadokuro picking up passengers in their hands and dropping them off at a station.
- Granny Classic: Hoang is a grandmother-figure to Minh. She treats Minh as a surrogate child, including making them their favourite meal when they're down and comforting them after a bad a day at work.
- Hair Antennae: Minh sports two hair antennae that seem to move with their emotions.
- Miniature Senior Citizens: Hoang is a good 2-3 heads shorter than Minh and is the ghost of an elderly woman.
- Supernatural Gold Eyes: Minh has darker golden eyes, hinting at their status as the only person who can see supernaturals. Miss Camile in Episode 13 also has golden eyes and is a soucouyant.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: The Sprouts. They're under a foot tall, have a leaf growing out of their heads, and have big, expressive faces.
- Snake People: Dr. Sahu, Hoang's therapist, is an Ichchadhari Naagin.
- The Lost Lenore: Hien, Hoang's long lost husband. The reason why she can't leave the apartment is because she is scared he will come back while she is gone.
