Crypts and Cantrips is a webcomic by Kieran Thompson, author of This Is the Worst Idea You've Ever Had!
From the about page:
"Crypts and Cantrips is a Sword and Sorcery adventure comic heavily inspired by Dungeons & Dragons and similar tabletop RPGs.It is not based on an actual gameplay scenario though I do occasionally use dice in the writing process. The story follows a group of adventurers as they explore the world and preform presumably heroic tasks."
Crypts and Cantrips provides examples of:
- Attempted Rape: Kitov is saved when his team mates suspect something is up and burst in.
- Even the Girls Want Her: Captain Ward makes a good first impression.
- Fantastic Racism: Dark elves are assumed to be criminals, even someone speaking up for Kitov and being well dressed is barely enough to stop him being arrested for going shopping.
- Fugitive Arc: Due to a failed kidnapping attempt causing the death of King Rishor the group has to go the run after being implicated.
- Happily Adopted: Mara Pareth, the adopted daughter of Damir and Argun.
- Hollywood Darkness: Although This seems pretty bright for night-time it could be explained by almost every character having...
- Innate Night Vision: As a significant chunk of the cast are elves, dwarves or orcs, darkness is only an occasional problem
- Plot Allergy: Turns out the king is allergic to blood lotus, something that should have taken weeks or months to take effect end's up killing him within hours.
- Proportional Aging: Kitov is fifty nine at the start of the story but seems like a teenager or young adult.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: Goblins in this comic are strangely adorable.
- Sheltered Aristocrat:Princess Taneli is leaning the hard way that life isn't so easy when your not rich.
- Standard Fantasy Races: With a few twists, a lot of the races are stated to be off shoots of the same races, Orcs have fey ancestry and goblins are closely related to tabaxi.
- Trans Tribulations: Kitov. While the surface world is tolerant of his nature as trans, it is mentioned he would be killed for it in the Underdark.
- Wild Magic: Kitov is a wild magic sorcerer, leading to his magic doing things its not supposed to do on occasions, both for good and ill.
