There was an idea... to bring together a group of remarkable roleplayers... and see if they could drive their GM crazy.

A screencap Campaign Comic based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Found here.

Avengers... Adventure!!! provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Accidental Truth: Ryan from the interlude comics. One of the flaws he picked for his character causes him to question his own existence, which Ryan chooses to represent as believing he's a character in a tabletop game that is a framing device for an online comic. Of course, considering the source material...
  • Actor Allusion:
    • Kevin quotes a line from The Big Lebowski while playing Obadiah Stane. When Rob expresses confusion, Kevin shows him the book and they both comment how he looks like Lebowski.
    • Chris, Captain America’s player, mentions having an idea for a Wildfire Druid alluding to Chris Evans’ previous Marvel-related role as the Human Torch.
  • Adaptational Villainy:
    • This version of Tony is stated from the get go to be lining his pockets with tech sold on the black market, before the events of the movie/campaign cause him to become a better person.
    • Pepper was the one who initially hired Whiplash to kill Tony.
  • Adapted Out: The second half of The Incredible Hulk. In-universe, it's because Mark (Hulk's player) has concerns about the build. Out-of-universe, it's because the author had trouble finding clean enough screen caps.
  • Awesome, but Impractical: Vibranium in this setting. It grants game-breaking amounts of buffs and bonuses to whatever item is made out of it, but it's stated to be obscenely expensive as a trade-off, and it's stated that GMs as a general rule try to keep players from getting their hands on the stuff. It's also why Gwyneth (as Howard Stark) is willing to give the vibranium acquired from the HYDRA base to Chris for free; Kevin had the foresight to forbid synthesising more, there's not enough to make a full set of armour, and a firearm would be "so limited-use they're practically worthless".
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Whiplash's build is gear near exclusively towards grappling armored opponents, which naturally causes problems when he's attacking Tony the one time he's without his armor.
  • Dump Stat: Tony's is established to be his Wisdom score, resulting in frequently low Perception rolls and, in at least one instance, a negative result on a Heal check.
  • Food as Bribe: Played with in The Incredible Hulk. Banner brings an extra pizza as part of his disguise to bribe the security guard, and his player even gives Kevin (the GM) a slice of pizza in real life. The Bluff check succeeds and he's allowed to enter the lab... only to find the data he was looking for is missing, rendering the whole thing pointless.
  • Loophole Abuse: This is how Natalie is able to get Heimdall's power back: since Loki was the one who let in the Jotun who started the chain of event's that led to him on the throne, his claim is technically illegitimate.
  • Malaproper: A Running Gag in the Aesir campaign is Kris constantly mispronouncing Mjolnir. He later admits to one of the other players that he's doing it on purpose to annoy the GM.
  • Obvious Rule Patch: When siccing the Devastator on the town Thor and co. are at with instructions to kill everyone in town, Loki makes sure to clarify that managing to flee past the town's borders does not exempt them from being killed.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: While Rob gets into a fight with Obadiah Stane, Terrence gets his own "epic aerial battle" against members of the Ten Rings. Naturally, as no such scene exists within the original Iron Man movie, said battle goes unseen.
  • Omniglot: Per Gwyneth's description, Pepper's Linguistics score is so high she had to invent languages to add to her character sheet.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Terrence, the first player of Jim Rhodes, gets fed up with Rob's constant derailing of the campaign and showboating, and winds up quitting the game, not even keeping in touch with the rest of the party. This causes Rob to feel quite a bit of guilt, and he has tried to improve his ability to communicate with other since, with mixed success.
  • Shout-Out: When Heimdall tells Loki that he's gone mad with power, the god in question make the obligatory The Simpsons reference.
  • Shout-Out Theme Naming: So far the players are all named after the actors who played their characters in the movies.
    • As of Thor this has become somewhat broken. Thor’s player is named Kris and Loki’s player is named Liam. This is likely due to One-Steve Limit, there are three Chris’ and two Tom’s in the MCU. However it still works somewhat as Kris is pronounced the same as Chris, and said actor has a brother named Liam.
    • In addition, Sif’s player is named Natalie however once Thor is banished to Earth, Natalie switches to a new character named Jane.
    • Peggy Carter’s player is named Emily, while her actor was named Hayley. However, Sharon Carter’s actress is named Emily.
  • Shrouded in Myth: Nick Fury is depicted here as a former Player Character of Kevin's. When he enters the story in Iron Man 2 Rob, Gwyneth, and Sarah are all quick to supply Chuck Norris-esque rumors of Fury's badassery.
