Whale Lords is a series in which the Yogscast — including Simon, Lewis, Duncan, Sips, and Sjin — must care for a giant sky whale while they wait for their captain to return.

Whale Lords contains examples of:

  • Alone with the Psycho: After the Yogs kill a giant for Orwin Butterbee, he leads them into his basement, which is full of Creepy Souvenirs to past giants; all signify dead giants with legends like "took care of his sick mother" and "ran a kitten sanctuary". He then tries to kill the Yogs.
  • A Rare Sentence: Episode 33 gives us "Don't misgender the whale." For a moment the guys actually seem speechless that they just actually said that.
  • Comically Missing the Point: During Episode 33, Lewis is attempting to warn the others that he's just been given a warning that if they don't build a statue for the Queen, they'll be trapped in the land forever. The other three couldn't care less because they're too busy building a dangus for the whale.
  • The Family for the Whole Family: Sly Tony doesn't do much organized crime. He just gives out advice on proper whale care. He may drop you in the lava pit, but only if you're being a dick.
  • "Fantastic Voyage" Plot: One story arc had the Whale Lords descend into Balti's digestive tract to find the source of his/her illness.
  • Hell Is That Noise: The whale screaming in pain in Episode 6.
  • Humanoid Abomination: The group attract the attention of a Lord Of Torment while exploring the abandoned dwarf city and barely escape it's rampage. Later on, they bump into the creature in the Whale's gut where it attacks the ship they're on with a small army of Eldritch Abominations before facing them in combat and meeting it's demise.
  • Karmic Death: At the end of Episode 30, Duncan doesn't care that Orwin is actually a sadistic giant-killer who just manipulated them into finishing off the last giant because he's been promised Excalibur in exchange for Bologs' eye. The second he picks up the sword, his HP rapidly drains and he dies, with the cause of death listed as "punished for using a relic that isn't theirs".
  • Larynx Dissonance: Let's just say that the voice Simon gave Sly Tony probably wasn't the one that the skin designer envisioned.
  • Mythology Gag: The dwarven log in Episode 15 contains several references to Shadow of Israphel and YogLabs.
  • Running Gag: Sips perpetually stealing Simon's furniture, to the point that Simon's house is left empty and eventually dismantled altogether.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: In Episode 3, after having his instructions from the crew perpetually ignored, Simon declares that he's leaving the crew to join the flying monkeys. This doesn't last long.
  • Tempting Fate: Upon descending to visit Sly Tony, Duncan (who had been absent for the first visit) points out that, given the group's track record, having a jumping puzzle that passes over lava is a terrible idea. Simon scoffs at this and declares that the puzzle is incredibly easy, and no one could possibly fall in. (Note that this is Simon, who by his own admission absolutely loathes jumping puzzles.) Duncan, not willing to risk it, starts building a bridge between the blocks...only to mistake a curve in the path for a straight line and plunge face-first into a lava spring.
  • Wham Episode: Episode 12, "Sky Cops". Sips and Simon get arrested for shoplifting from Skykea, only to escape their cells and shoot their way out of the prison, ultimately stealing a flying police car.
    • Even more so, Episode 15. The group happens upon an abandoned city of dwarves. A log reveals that the city was attacked by great beasts from the sky, implied to be the sky whales themselves. Oh, and there's also hints that Simon might be a member of a lost royal bloodline.
  • Wham Line: From the dwarven log in Episode 15:
The king is dead, the royal Honeydew bloodline is ended.
    • The various signs in Orwin's basement revealing that he slaughtered an entire innocent race of giants also collectively qualify.
  • Wham Shot: At the end of Episode 30, the group descends into Orwin Butterbee's basement to discover that it's filled with the eyes of dozens of giants, many of them completely innocent, which he has murdered over the years. This is quickly followed up by the sign at the end of the hall, which reveals that Bologs was in fact the Last of His Kind, and they just helped murder him.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: For all the bad things they've done throughout the series, all five are arrested and sentenced to 25 years in jail. Lewis is in solitary confinement, Simon is digging an escape tunnel, Duncan is smuggling air balloons to turn his cell into an airship, Sjin caused a mass shivving and Sips somehow became warden - and isn't letting the rest out.
