Toontown Chronicles is a Web Video series made by Maximillian "Fragilant" Small in 2016. It's a buddy cop comedy series made with Plotagon that focuses on the city of Toontown and its residents. Currently in the midst of the "Death Grips Takeover" Arc, it also has a couple filler episodes that focus on characters outside of the main plot and how they relate to the main protagonists. Toontown Chronicles contains examples of:
- Ask a Stupid Question...: Sidekick Sam meets Ricky at Sailor's concert, Ricky introduces himself and Sidekick Sam declares he's going to interrogate Ricky. His first question...
Sidekick Sam: OK, who are you?
Ricky: Sam, I literally told you a minute ago, stop wasting my time.
Sidekick Sam: Fuck, I suck at this.
- Big Bad: James starts planting the seeds of Death Grips in Toontown in "James Starts a Revolution Part 1" in order to kill all normies.
- Catchphrase: Solomon the Woke: "Stay woke."
- Sidekick Sam: "To be continued."
- Decoy Protagonist: Sam the Wise was built up as the protagonist throughout the Death Grips Takeover Arc before being murdered by the mastermind Ricky in part 6, right as Max starts coming into a more prominent role.
- Face–Heel Turn: Sidekick Sam gets brainwashed into liking Death Grips by Finlay Bean Ireland in part 4.
- Killed Off for Real: Sam the Wise.
- The Hero: Sam the Wise doesn't even have to see Toontown becoming infested with Death Grips, he can feel the evil.
- Max takes it upon himself to solve the mystery of Death Grips once he hears the Police Are Useless and even figures out who the mastermind is before anyone else.
- The Lancer: Sidekick Sam.
- The Man Behind the Man: It's revealed in part 4 that James is working under someone to infect the town with Death Grips, and in part 6 it's revealed to have been Ricky the whole time.
- Police Are Useless: Ethan takes a very laissez-faire attitude in regards to Death Grips.
Gerry: We have also asked the police force for their comment on the situation.
Ethan: Bro, legit, I don't really care. Now let me listen to the Yu-Gi-Oh soundtrack.
- Running Gag: Every non-filler episode ends with Sidekick Sam looking to the audience saying "To be continued", even if he wasn't part of the scene beforehand.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: From "Caden Wants Animw Friends"
Caden: Hey Jeff, I do not know how to say this but, actually no, enough of being a coward. I'm gonna spill the beans right here and punch your nerd ass. A real friend would accept everyone's interests no matter what, and you failed. Time for punch.
