I AM MIGHTYKEEF!

The Keef Crew is a YouTube channel run by MightyKeef. This channel mostly focuses on comedy skits based on happenings in the Fighting Game Community, especially with Super Smash Bros.

Tropes applying to these videos:

  • An Arm and a Leg: In "If real life had BALANCE PATCHES!", the Keefs in the video keep losing random body parts to some unknown entity trying to balance real life.
  • Blatant Lies: runinfades keeps insisting that a tornado went through his house every time he rage quits his match against his opponent Keef from the second time onwards in " PEOPLE WHO CONSTANTLY RAGE QUIT ONLINE"
  • Boomerang Bigot: In "WHEN YOUR DAD FINDS OUT YOU PLAY TOO MUCH VIDEO GAMES", Keef's Dad has this exchange with his son while they're playing Super Smash Bros. for Wii U:
Keef's Dad: Alright then, what is this character over here?
Keef: That character is named Donkey Kong.
Keef's Dad: HAH! He kind of looks like you, son.
    Keef: That's so racist...
  • Bragging Rights Option: Discussed Trope in the "What your Dragonball FighterZ main says about you" series. Keef states that Piccolo players could easily pick any other character and do the exact same thing much easier, but simply want to play on "Hard Mode". Likewise, Trunks players don't care if they almost get Perfected when they lose; as long as they hit the opponent with ONE "flashy-ass" combo, they feel accomplished.
  • Butt-Monkey: His EVO-series has various game franchises take turns at being the butt of the jokes, but Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate get it the most.
    • Infinite gets it consistently the worse as it was immediately overshadowed by the '"Fighterz'' in it's debut year and was not invited to the 2018 EVO party. 2019 had it's game on the ground that invitees had to "pay respects" to. 2020, it tried to invade the party only for it to get kicked out by the more popular Marvel vs Capcom 2.
    • Ultimate was on the receiving end on this due to getting snubbed from EVO in 2020 due to the Online-only format. Ultimate arguably having the worst online of all the big fighters and lack of support in the competitive circuit from Nintendo made it an easy target. 2021 seemed to be the final nail with announcement of Sony purchasing EVO, meaning Smash's chance of returning was slim to none.
    • Sony Employee Jim in the video about Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard. When he starts to inform the Sony CEO about the news, the CEO was instantly brought out of his jovial, gloating mood just from hearing Jim speak. Later, when Jim tells the CEO that his phone is ringing, the CEO yells at him again.
  • Disproportionate Retribution:
    • In "People who win ONE MATCH THEN LEAVE!", runinfades sics troopers to beat up Keef for daring to quit an online Smash match after winning against him once.
    • According to "How Smash bros/FGC Tournaments in 2020 about to be!", if you bring an inadequate sanitizer or even cough at a fighting game tournament in 2020, well...
Corona Task Force: YOUR AROMA, SMELLS LIKE CORONA, SO NOW WE GON' PUT YOU IN A COMA!
  • Dissonant Serenity: In the “If Game Freak Designed Super Smash Bros” video, a mob appears at Game Freak HQ after releasing a barebones Smash Bros game for $250. The executives react pretty casually about it.
Game Freak Exec: Okay, so apparently, there is a mob outside wanting to kill us.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: In the WW3 video, before the Saiyan mentions he's a Saiyan, he describes his race as one that was born stronger than everyone else but was enslaved and forced to do physical labor.
  • Dumped via Text Message: In the video "When You Lose to a Character You're Trying to Unlock", Afro Keef plays Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and tries to unlock the characters his friends request, starting with Lucas, and loses badly. His friends are stunned, and his phone displays texts by his "Big Booty Bae" who is just as incredulous. When Afro Keef tries again and loses to Ganondorf, his friends ridicule him relentlessly, and the texts from "Big Booty Bae" say that she's leaving him because he's trash at the game.
  • Felony Misdemeanor:
    • Playing Android 16 in Dragon Ball Fighter Z apparently makes someone a terrible person who eats children, robs his friends, and cheats on his girlfriends. Playing as Cell means that a person is so addicted to cheating that they'll cheat even if they already have all the answers. Playing as Kid Buu means that a person probably tortured animals or burned ants alive For the Evulz. And playing as Frieza means that a player is actually a sadist who likes watching their opponents struggle so that they can berate them and feel superior.
    • Losing to a CPU in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate means that a person is so trash at the game that even their "Big Booty Bae" will dump them.
    • Not liking Pokémon Sword and Shield for reasons such as the game only have 400 Pokemon instead of 1000 will warrant a complete ass-beating.
    • Watching anime dubbed instead of subbed makes someone a complete psychopath who must be shot on sight in order to save lives.
    • Being a Dragon Ball Fighter Z player and having the audacity to use the catchphrase "It's MAH-VEL baybee!!" justifies having your ass kicked.
    • Losing to a low-tier character while using a top-tier one makes someone complete trash as both a player and a person.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Smash is this to all the other fighting games in the EVO skits. All the other fighting games keep taking the opportunity to roast him, for not being "A real fighting game" and "for kids"invoked.
  • Funny Background Event:
    • In the EVO videos, Tekken 7 is this. He's almost always doing a dance in the background while the rest of the fighting games bicker over something like a game not being included in EVO that year.
    • In the ''Pokémon Sword and Shield video, while a calmly optimistic fan explains to a pessimistic fan why they should refrain from ruining others' excitement about the upcoming games, an aggressively optimistic fan beats the ass of a Modern Pokemon-hating fan.
Calm Fan: Now sit tight. Cuz we 'bout to beat yo' ass next, aight?
  • I Shall Return: In the video, "How XBOX FANS felt watching the Xbox Games Showcase 2020!", the Playstation fan invokes this trope when a new Fable game is announced.
Sony Fan Keef: But don't let me find out that these graphics look like stale milk and old jelly ranchers. ...Or I'm comin' for that ass. I'll be back...
  • Noodle Incident:
    • According to "How EVERYONE reacted to the NEW EVO 2020 Online line up!", Dragon Ball Fighterz was found in a well by his dad when he was seven years old. We only hear the end of this incident because he can somehow lag out in real life.
    • In the Impostor-centered [Among Us] video, when everyone gives their alibi, one crewmate mentions that he was "in the streets, selling ass".
  • N-Word Privileges: In "How XBOX FANS felt watching the Xbox Games Showcase 2020", an Xbox Live Keef tries to say "the word", only to get kicked out.
  • Only Sane Man: In the EVO Lineup series, while Dragon Ball FighterZ and Street Fighter V bicker, Smash Bros. keeps being annoying, and Tekken 7 keeps dancing, the only one seemingly aware of the insanity is Soul Calibur VI, whose commentary is ignored.
  • Overly Long Gag: Microsoft establishing the fact that he's rich to Sony.
Microsoft: I got money, BOY. Moolah. Cash. Benjamins. Dollars. Dead Presidents. I got stacks on stacks, nigga! Paper. Bread. Bucks. Cheddar. Loot. I got dough. Coins. Bands on bands. I got cabbage. Guwop. Racks on racks. Turkey. Squid. Shekels. Plunder.
Sony: Okay, we get it! You're rich, we gotcha, loud and clear!
  • Running Gag:
    • "That game ain't even out yet! IT COULD FLOP?! explanation
    • "Halo Infinite boutta go CRAZY."
    • "I'm about to *insert verb here* my FOOT in yo ass!"
    • "Not legally. But yes."
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: This happens multiple times, such as when Keef's Switch breaks after saving his game multiple times, and after seeing someone looking at Aegis porn.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!: Microsoft says this in both skits about him buying Activision Blizzard, saying he doesn't need to beat his video gaming rivals when he can buy them instead.
  • Subbing Versus Dubbinginvoked: Several of his videos on the anime fandom involve this.
    • This is the main focus in "WHEN YOUR FRIEND WATCHES DUBBED ANIME", where Keef is shocked to find his friend, Afro Keef, watching an English-dubbed version of Attack on Titan.
    • In the video "IF ANIME FANS GOT DRAFTED INTO WW3!!", a guy who comes to be recruited is on the phone with somebody, saying that he only watches dubbed anime. The recruiter promptly shoots him dead.
    • At the end of "THE ANIME FANDOM IN A NUTSHELL", the rest of the Keefs find out that the Keef who told them to calm down about anime, is watching an English dub of One Piece. Suddenly, the rest of the Keefs lose their shit over this.
Filler-Hating Keef: That's why yo' head look like a damn PEANUT!
  • Villain Has a Point: The video "WHEN THE VILLAIN'S SPEECH ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE", is dedicated to this. The villain keeps making good points about society, that Keef the cop keeps getting saddled by.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: The villain in "WHEN THE VILLAIN'S SPEECH ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE" is this. His whole motivation is to attack greedy companies who are polluting the planet. He also went and killed the two guards Tim and Howard, who are a pedophile drug-dealer and a kleptomaniac respectively.

"Boy, that's just CRAZY."
