The series takes a darker approach to the second game's Salmon Run, focusing on the disappearance of Kaia Shirui, a young Inkling working for Grizzco Industries.
The Grizzco Tapes provides examples of:
- Evil, Inc.: Grizzco Industries is even shadier than they are in canon. Not only do they endanger their workers by sending them to steal eggs from Salmonoids, but - as shown with Kaia - they cover up all the bad shit they do.
- Darker and Edgier: The Grizzco Tapes is essentially a much darker take on the Salmon Run.
- Deliberate VHS Quality: Being an analog horror series, this was to be expected.
- Missing Child: The main premise. The story essentially all revolves around the disappearance of Kaia Shirui, a teenage Salmon Runner in Grizzco's employ.
