"Now the whole town knows he has SUPER... MAN POWERS!!"
—Spencer Bedlam, after a character received Clark's abilities
Spencer Bedlam is a YouTube user who formerly reviewed Smallville episodes, then switched to other videos and Let's Play.
This show provides examples of:
- All Men Are Perverts: Spencer wonders why Clark isn't one.Spencer: So he'll abuse his powers to look for crappy rocks for school but won't look through girls' clothes? What kind of teenager is he?
- Berserk Button: Obvious references to the Superman in the comics, especially the Warrior Angel (a Captain Ersatz of Superman) comics in Smallville. One episode mentioned it one too many times and sends him into Unstoppable Rage.
- Blatant Lies:
- Spencer makes this joke exchange:Boy who received Clark's powers: Who came up with Superboy?Chloe: I did.
- Spencer head-shots Chloe and says "my finger slipped" with the smoking gun.
- Spencer makes this joke exchange:
- Catchphrase:
- The page quote, "Now he has SUPER... MAN POWERS!"
- When a gang develops intangibility...Spencer: SUPER WALL-WALKING-THOUGH POWERS!!
[proceeds to walk through a wall only to Epic Fail]
- Comical Overreacting: How he responds to some mild remarks on the show.Clark: I'm playing football and you can't stop me.Spencer: Oh no he is rebelling quick get to the bomb shelter! (runs)
- Evil Sounds Deep: He deepens his voice dramatically sometimes when talking about Lex and other bad guys.
- Foreshadowing:
- When the script writer tried to kill him at the end of the Nicodemus review, a figure who looks suspiciously like Chloe saved him.
- He foreshadowed the eventual fate of Ryan in the Stray interview.
- Large Ham: The Catchphrase probably already tipped you off. How could you forget?Spencer: AMNESIA!
- Only Sane Man: He considers Chloe the lone one in Smallvile.Spencer: ...And Chloe fell to her death. (Beat) Actually, she is fine, they can't kill her, she is the only good guy with the slightest speck of intelligence.
- Recycled In Space: He edits the sword fight between the two Luthors to make it look like it involved lightsabers and used it in the video introduction.
- Reed Richards Is Useless: Subverted. He asked Superman to turn back time so his reviews could be up to date.
- Shipping: In-universe, he makes his ship clear as he obviously likes Lana/Clark better. Poor Chloe takes more than getting shot. Oddly enough, he used that kissing scene in a video introduction.Spencer Bedlam: (Shocked expression and voice) Clark...and...Chloe...kissed?.
- Subverted Catchphrase: In the Leech review, a character receives Clark's powers. He said the page quote while playing the Superman theme, wearing a Superman costume (complete with spit-curl and the classic pose) and with a Fortress of Solitude backdrop.
- Viewers Are Morons: Spencer thinks it is why kryptonite always glows near Clark.
- Visual Pun: Spencer drinks "continui-tea" from time to time and comments on how terrible it tastes.
