"Hellosie! Here's Rosie!"

Rosierosa, also known as Rosie McDamsel, or Rosiero, is a Dutch Virtual YouTuber and artist based in the United States. She is most known as a YouTube and Twitch-based Let's Player with a focus on classic or old-school games, though she also manages a steady stream of more modern titles as well.

Rosie's typical approach to streaming is characterised by a mix of in-depth game trivia knowledge, mischievous energy and very often a particularly creative vocabulary, especially when it comes to series like King's Quest or other retro adventure games. She is also occasionally joined by a legally distinct haunted anime doll for commentary and cooperation. Don't ask how the doll got that way.

She typically streams Mon/Wed/Thu/Sun on Twitch, and VODs are uploaded to YouTube. Rosie can be found on Twitter here and on Bluesky here.

Tropesies:

  • Accent Slip-Up: Rosie's original Limburg Dutch accent has significantly softened over time as a result of training/practice, to the point where she often needs to use a mental trick to recover it... After which, it can be very hard to stop.

  • Alternative Character Interpretation: The entire Lakitu restraining order arc, for one. But no one is safe from this, not even Balloon Mike from the otherwise-innocent Balloon Fight series. Who knew he was out for blood? Or named Mike?

  • Bound and Gagged: The Jump King stream. Somewhere between a challenge stream, a desire to spare her viewers from screams of frustration, and just general Rosieness, her attempt was necessarily muffled.

  • Brick Joke: in the Final Fantasy XVI playthrough, Rosie and Nothles joke that Bernard is actually a ladder, not a carpenter. When the character is referenced by the game several episodes later, Rosie immediately replies "The ladder?"

  • Clickbait Gag: Played with. Even if Rosie's titles and thumbnails sometimes look exaggerated, they're generally not a far cry from her *actual* over the top reactions... but one Shining Force stream is suggestively labeled "Glasses Girl Takes One-Eyed Monster's Fully Loaded Cannon", which is *technically* correct, given that she gets repeatedly blasted by a laser cannon's charged attack...

  • Cuteness Overload: Almost every time baby Torgal appeared during the first Final Fantasy XVI stream.

  • Evil Twin: Chaos Rosie is typically kept locked away in the closet, but has been known to sneak out from time to time. Despite her name, most of the chaos seems limited to messing with Rosie's streams or taking them over, usually to play HoloCure and eat Rosie's snacks.

  • Haunted Technology: Rosie's gaming laptop frequently changes its settings on its own in a way that screws up Rosie's setup, which she blames on it being haunted.

  • Lady Swears-a-Lot: And we mean, by her own admission, a LOT. With a particular knack for stringing together profanity that creates new, never-before-heard-or-said curses.
    • She frequently insists that she's trying to swear less, only to inevitably say something vulgar within less than a minute.

  • Lawyer-Friendly Cameo: Rosie's husband Another, or "Nothles," is represented by a small doll that in no way infringes the copyright of a light novel protagonist from a series that the pair are die-hard fans of.

  • Mangled Catchphrase: Rosie's usual sign-on of "hellosie, here's Rosie!" was briefly subverted by viewers during her Fire Emblem Engage streams, either being replaced with "hiya papaya" or the more mangled "hellosie papaya."

  • No Sense of Direction: Whether it's Quake or Shantae (2002) or most games with a map, Rosie will inevitably get lost, leading to all manner of shenanigans.

  • Old Shame: Since March 2023, Rosie has occasionally uploaded recordings of her pre-Twitch streams to YouTube. However, when it comes to certain playthroughs she's either refused to upload them despite requests or put it off so she can edit them, which she almost never does with current material.

  • Palette Swap: Though not a different persona per se, the Rosie who helped defend Earth in the Commander Keen stream had both an appropriate palette, and an appropriate translation for her usual hoodie. Just in case the Vorticons had any questions.

  • Perpetual Frowner: The mocap certainly seems to think so, as no matter how many times Rosie recalibrates it, it inevitably slips back into showing her as frowning if her expression is anything but positively beaming.

  • Pretentious Pronunciation: Did you know that potion has three syllables?

  • Purple Is Powerful: Her colour scheme tends towards purple, which is an admitted favourite colour. Whether or not this actually contributes to her power is still a matter of discussion, but a new purple hat did have some notable effects.

  • Running Gag: There are several of these in the thumbnails and/or video titles for certain playthroughs, such as:
    • In the "Old Shoot Games" series, starting a new game is always signified by Rosie being inserted into the game's title screen or cover art.
    • In the "Classic Sonic Ports" series, almost every new game has Rosie imitating Sonic's title screen pose.
    • In the Shantae (2002) playthrough, every video is titled "X through the Y", referencing the theme song from Half-Genie Hero.
    • For Sonic Adventure, each thumbnail features one of the game's myriad weird faces along with a Rosie imitation. For its sequel, each thumbnail shows a character upside-down.
    • Though not limited to a single series, there are numerous thumbnails where Rosie's reaction matches that of an in-game character with the caption "SAME THO".
    • More recently, in her Prince of Persia playthrough, a certain yellow-colored guard got dubbed "Bananaman", accompanied with a theme song for each appearance. Legally distinct from the other Bananaman, of course.

  • Sidekick Creature Nuisance: While not a true nuisance, the Haunted Legally-Distinct Hero Doll is occasionally the recipient of some prodding and tongue-in-cheek ire for his much more subdued intros, and reactions to events on stream.

  • Signing Off Catchphrase: Much like her greeting, streams typically end with a Rosiero-based pun in the form of "Rosie-rollin' ouuuuuuuuuuut!"
