Rhett and Link's Night of Terror (or sometimes "Hazel") is a short found footage horror-comedy film by Rhett & Link. It was originally on TikTok as an eleven-part video series on Oct 15, 2021, before all eleven parts were uploaded as a 22-minute film on YouTube on October 20.

The film is about the fictionalized version of Rhett and Link spending the night together doing a challenge where they have fans suggest what their song should be about. Later, while they are doing a challenge of which genre they should pick for their song, they find a strange album, and things go horribly wrong...

It can be seen here.

Tropes:

  • As Himself: Rhett and Link star as themselves in a horror film and act as they would when there's something horrifying going on.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Hazel Macon successfully traps Rhett and Link in the album while she escapes into the real world.
  • Brainwashed: Halfway through the film, Link gets brainwashed by Hazel and is turned into a Half-Witted Hillbilly who is Hazel's partner.
  • Downer Ending: The short film ends with both Rhett and Link getting taken by Hazel and trapped in a record album while Hazel escapes into the real world. It implies that the cycle repeats itself now that Rhett and Link are brainwashed into becoming the new Hazel Macon (The Macon Brothers) and will be luring people into opening the portal door using their song just as Hazel did it to Rhett and Link.
  • Extremely Short Timespan: The film takes place in one night, which is about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
  • The Faceless: Hazel's face is never shown, as she is mostly shown from behind.
  • Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: After getting grabbed by Hazel from behind, Link begins screaming hysterically, to the point that Rhett has to slap him to snap out of it.
  • Horror Comedy: The film blends between horror and comedy in some scenes. Mainly the scene where Rhett and Link are running from Hazel, Rhett tries to look for knives in the kitchen but there are none, so he uses a fork as a weapon in defense instead.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: After Rhett manages to free a brainwashed Link by luring him into going back to the house and pausing Hazel's album in the record player, Link no longer has a memory about Hazel, the record album, and what happened to him before he got brainwashed by Hazel.
  • Portal Door: Whatever Hazel's record album is playing backward, the door that leads to Rhett and Link's music studio room is turned into a portal to the forest where Hazel is and the album photo was taken.
  • Reverse Arm-Fold: Hazel Macon is shown holding her own hand from behind occasionally.
  • Subliminal Seduction: In-universe, but when Rhett And Link listen to Hazel's album in a record player, Rhett (who learned about backmasking) notices some whispers in the song that are backward and plays it backward to hear that Hazel is begging them to open the door and let her out. However, unknown to Rhett, playing the record causes the portal to open, letting Hazel go inside Rhett and Link's house.
  • Surprisingly Super-Tough Thing: Near the end, Rhett tries to break the record album with his hand but to no avail despite the record usually getting broken rather easily. Rhett also tries to burn the record but it doesn't melt.
