Random Madness is a Youtube channel by Valentin the Mad.

In this channel, he discusses about gore in video games, gore mods, among other things.Valentin produces several types of videos, and they are:

  • Gore Review: Valentin reviews gore and response mechanics in a game, and rate them with numeric score.
  • Gore Demonstration: Valentin shows what gore and response mechanics that game has, without commentary.
  • Dev Discussion: Valentin interviews with devs of gory video game.

You can find his channel here. He also makes music.

Random Madness contains examples of:

  • Berserk Button: There are things in gory video games that Valentin especially doesn't like.
    • Bodies and blood decals that fade so quickly.
    • Cheap "Total obliteration" effect that destroys the body of an enemy completely, but only spawns a mist of blood, some generic meat chunks or some limbs. Valentin wants it to be more visceral.
    • Generic overlays of blood and burns for severe injuries. He thinks that all wounds should be precise and proportionate to the respective area of attack.
    • So called "Over-Dismemberment"; or when an attack does way more body damage than it should (such as a pistol cutting an enemy in half). As much as he loves virtual butchery, he believes it should be earned.
  • Catchphrase: In Gore Review videos, Valentin usually says "However, there are issues." before he talks problems about things.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Valentin has no problem with seeing dismembered corpses or gory wounds in video games since he reviews gore in games, but in Postal 2 Gore Review video, Valentin didn't show animal gore in the game because he doesn't feel good to kill house pets in video games.
  • Gorn: The staple of the Gore Review videos, of course.

Tropes Discussed in Random Madness videos:

  • Boom, Headshot!: How video games depict and treat headshots is always an important factor for Gore Review videos, since having good headshot response mechanics makes killing enemies in the game very satisfying. If headshots with powerful guns or point-blank shotgun blast result in Pretty Little Headshots instead of blowing the head off messily, Valentin will criticize it.
  • Critical Existence Failure: Valentin likes video games that avert this trope by adding various wounded states for enemies, like enemies with injured legs move slowly, or mortally wounded enemies start crawling or wiggle in pain.
  • Damage-Sponge Boss: Valentin dislikes this trope in gory video games, because those boss characters with a huge amount of health are often unresponsive to player attacks, unlike regular enemies. They don't scream or flinch when they are attacked, and never stop attacking or moving even when they receive heavy damage. Valentin thinks those enemies are not fun to fight against.
  • Enemy Chatter: Valentin likes enemies in games that scream realistically when they receive attacks or get mortally wounded, because it gives good feel to the player.
  • Kill It with Fire: Valentin thinks flame based attacks in video games need some good response from burned enemies. If burned corpses look realistically burned instead of just becoming dark, Valentin will adore it. Likewise, if burned enemies frantically run in random direction, or have good scream, he will adore it too.
  • Your Head A-Splode: Valentin takes this trope very seriously. If the destroyed head of an enemy didn't spray gory meat or head chunks and did only show a mist of blood or generic red sprites, he will pan it.
