Pokémon Mystery Dungeons & Dragons (Dark Heroes) (usually abreviated as "PMD&D") was a Pokémon Mystery Dungeon-themed D&D campaign ran by TheGoldCrow on YouTube. It takes place shortly after the events of Super Mystery Dungeon, and follows the adventures of four young Pokémon: Rayne the Piplup Monk, Lucius the Buneary Paladin, Henry the Elekid Bard, and Rodney the Meowth Rogue.

Rumors are circling about of Pokémon going berserk and attacking each other for no reason. Taking advantage of the panic, there has been an increase in thefts of valuable artifacts, not to mention a huge crime spike. Our four heroes are on a boat to Lively Town as passengers on a ship known as the Bruiser in an attempt to get away from this. That is, until things go wrong. Now, the Dark Heroes have to deal with sinister characters, Mystery Dungeons, poorly made stew and a host of other things as they get wrapped up in an adventure they didn't plan on being a part of.

The series started its first session on December 21st, 2018. After over three years, the series concluded on March 2nd, 2022. There are over 90 episodes from both the main campaign and the side campaigns that are connected to it. The series can be found here. Soniclink137, who plays Lucius, has also started converting the campaign into a fanfiction, which can be viewed here.

On July 20th, 2022, a new campaign series by TheGoldCrow, Ice Continent Expedition, made its debut.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeons & Dragons (Dark Heroes) contains examples of:

  • Aerith and Bob:
    • With the main cast. Rayne and Lucius (later joined by Raffa) appear alongside Henry and Rodney. The people they interact with aren't safe from this trope either.
    • For the Phantom Thieves, we have Phantom, Narm, Colm... and Robin.
    • The Anomalees team has Lee, Fátima and Senna. It also brings us Agimus.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Downplayed. It's revealed in Verdue that Lucius' real parents named him Shannon.
  • Large Ham: Henry and Epee. Epee speaks and acts as if he is like a superhero, he almost never speaks in a normal voice and strikes poses with dramatic intent. Henry is also this to a lesser extent, as he is definitely more emotive than the rest of his teammates.
  • The Last of His Kind: As of session 20, Sora is, as the video title states, the last known survivor of Lucretsha as his home has been destroyed.
  • Mess on a Plate: The sugary paste that Lucius cooked in Episode 1 certainly qualifies. Opinions on how it tastes however depends on who you ask.
  • Running Gag: There are a couple of these.
    • Though Lucius is guy, he is frequently mistaken for a girl.
    • Out of character, whenever Indiana Jones is mentioned, Erin Strouder (Rodney) acts like he does not exist thanks to a gaffe that happens during one of the episodes in Lucretsha, where Strouder tried to apply Indiana Jones logic in a world where he does not exist.
