If you don't describe ParashockX here, the video ends.
ParashockX (real name: Josh), also known as the "If I guy", is a YouTube channel known for doing challenges made by the comment section in the form of "If you/the game/the player character/etc. do(es) X, the video/game/you/etc. do(es) X", more commonly the "If you do X, the video ends" challenges, hence his nickname. Apart from that, however, he also does the "ParaPodcasts/ParaTalks" series, the "X, but you can't do X" series, the "3 INDIE GAMES" series and the "Realistic Trailers" series, among other videos. He even has animations, like the "Welcome to..." videos, and he's also the creator of the "poorly drawn stuff until @YouTube brings back the dislike count" series, a 4-panel comic series when he (mainly) roasts YouTube each day until the latter brings back the dislike count.
Para also has a 2nd channel, simply called Parashock, where he posts "normal-gameplay" videos and other bonus content outside of his main channel.
Not related to the name of Citizen Watch Company’s proprietary anti-shock system for mechanical/automatic watch movements, aka Parashock.
If you read these tropes, your life will be enhanced:
- Author Avatar: Parashock has 3, actually: his current character he uses is Winston, a Waddling Head Perpetual Smiler, but he also has a Cartoon Penguin with glasses and another Waddling Head with an X on its face (yes, even the "X" logo is alive).
- Bait-and-Switch: The challenge of the "If I kill a boomer, the video ends" video is for Parashock to not kill a Left 4 Dead 2 Boomer.
- Butt-Monkey: Winston is this most of the time in the "Welcome to..." videos, except when not.
- Evil Twin: In the appropriately named "When Villains "Hold Back"" video, Winston has a brother, who's a Dastardly Whiplash who shoots Winston's partner in the knee instead of killing them both. After a profound talk, both brothers reconcile... while Winston's partner still aches in pain.
- Frozen Face: Downplayed with Winston. He can emote with his eyes, but rarely moves his grin, even while talking, except on some rare occasions, like singing.
- Genre Savvy: In the "If I scream..." video from a Siren Head game, Parashock knows that, if he moves foward, he would probably die, since the Siren Head's alarm sound plays, so he tries to go back, only to realize that the sound also comes from there, so he has no choice but to move foward.
- Mind Screw: Some of the challenges made by the comments use this treatment for the laughs. For example, there's "If the video starts, the video ends" and "If the video ends, it doesn't". Now join them together...
