OfficialDuckStudios is a YouTube channel focusing on comedy, video games and commentary that parodies clickbait channels and prides itself as being the worst thing on the website. Originally focusing on video game commentary by its creator Reice, the channel eventually evolved to include commentary on other subjects, livestreams, intentionally-bad DIY and most commonly Reice's dysfunctional adventures with his friends/roommates Tyler, Joey, Jonny, and Kevan along with their pet cat Randal.

ODS provides examples of:

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Reice and Tyler get themselves some passports from a nearby post office that Jonny points out to actually be an Arby's, leaving all three of them confused.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Reice wields an airsoft gun to a Roomba and gives it the ability to fire in an attempt to get it to shoot anything it bumps into. Within minutes of being turned on, the Roomba fails to bump into any obstacles the boys place down (or throw) and just starts haphazardly shooting anything.
  • Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: The group used to hold Drunk Strums, which were gaming livestreams where they would do things like take a bet or drink more booze after reaching certain donation amounts. In the final stream before they moved to their house from 2013 to 2017, they accidentally leaked their address and the chat responded by ordering them a pizza, and the group then proceeded to rope the delivery guy into drinking and playing CSGO on air with them. The April 2023 stream culminated in Joey getting injured when Reice tried to shoot an arrow through a door with a crossbow, shocking the group so much that they swore off Drunk Strums for good.
  • Bad Boss: Reice is supposedly the company's boss, and treats his roommates/employees like shit in addition to hardly ever paying them.
  • Big Eater: Reice goes through a lot of food, though he tends to spend more time either wasting it or destroying the fridge's contents. The others frequently complain that they're starving.
  • Black Comedy:
    • Suicide jokes are rampart throughout the series, most commonly in the form of the noose that Tyler keeps in his room attached to his ceiling fan or occasionally wears as a scarf.
Reice: "Hey Joey, just reminding you to go kill yourself."
    Joey: "Aww, thanks!"
    • Even after Reice accidentally shot Joey with a crossbow, the two of them and Tyler couldn't help laughing over the near-death experience and showing off the wound on camera.
  • Broke Episode: The gang experience a lot of these, no thanks to Reice. However, half the time it's only Reice who has no money and acting like everybody else is too. Tyler even mentions that he and Joey have jobs, something Reice doesn't have.
  • Button Mashing: The boys' doorbell is always rung this way.
  • Camera Fiend: Joey usually acts as the cameraman for most videos, rarely appearing as more than a voice.
  • Cannot Talk to Women: Reice, if he remembers to. When Tyler informs him that the worker at the McDonalds drive-thru window is a girl, he panics and turns up the window.
  • Captain Obvious: Reice isn't very good at obscuring secrets and lies.
[After Reice has forcibly made the trio homeless in the guise of having them move to a new apartment and taken them to a bridge where Tyler and Joey consider killing themselves at]
Reice: "I hate to break it to you guys, but this isn't an apartment - it's a bridge."
    Tyler: "...no shit."
  • Cats Are Mean: Randall and Other Cat are probably the only decent residents of the household.
  • The Chew Toy: Existence is pain for Tyler. His roommates are all idiots, Reice constantly destroys and/or steals his belongings and money to entertain himself, and he can never have a moment's peace as he attempts to live a normal life and keep the household stable.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Moose the dog only appears in several videos following her introduction, until she suddenly disappears and is replaced by a cat of the same colored fur.
  • Deadpan Snarker: All three of the main boys have their fair share of sarcasm, particularly Tyler. In the commentary videos, Reice often snarks about the subject.
  • Demoted to Extra: While Jonny and Kevan have all but disappeared by the early 2020s, Joey continues to handle the filming but speaks way less frequently than he used to.
  • Didn't Think This Through: The number of times that Reice's plans have gone the way he hoped they would can be counted on one's fingers, generally due to his idiocy, incompetence and Insane Troll Logic.
  • D.I.Y. Disaster: Reice has spent most of 2018 onwards getting into home projects, either fixing things or making contraptions. They never end well, not at all helped by his insistence on creating nonsensical devices. He eventually roped Tyler into these shenanigans so he could compete with someone - and in true Reice fashion, he allocates better budgets and time limits to himself than he does for Tyler.
  • Embarrassing Tattoo: Reice is forced by the others to get a tattoo of a no symbol with a slice of pizza and a fishbone in it (based on a name for a band he came up with) as punishment for unsuccessfully trying to make a gas-powered tattoo gun.
  • Enraged by Idiocy: The majority of Tyler's anger issues stem from Reice being a complete moron 24/7.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Reice was so horrified about nearly killing Joey in April 2023 that he vowed to never again livestream under the influence of alcohol.
  • Fat Bastard: Reice is somewhat pudgy and by far the most dickish member of the crew.
  • Fat Idiot: Reice is almost as fat as he is borderline braindead.
  • Flanderization: Tyler went from being ok with joining in on Reice and Joey's antics to being really aggravated most of the time. (No, seriously. He was ok with it at one point, then over what seems like half an episode, his personality changes.)
  • The "Fun" in "Funeral":
    • "our pet passed away" features the gang burying Freddy the stingray in the middle of the night while it's pouring down rain. Tyler and Joey can't see shit when they try to check if the hole the former dug is deep enough, Jonny is hoisting a flag in the background that is used as a grave marker after the corpse is unceremoniously dumped in, and the video ends with Joey wanting to know where Moose is and Reice deciding to go work out on the treadmill inside (read: on the patio barely away from all the rain).
    • Randall's funeral was a Meaningful Funeral...at first. The boys then decided to ramp up the Drunk Strum organised for the following day in her memory, got absolutely wasted after a $1000 donation and had to cut it short after Reice accidentally shot Joey with a crossbow.
  • Gender-Blender Name: Randall is a girl, despite what her name indicates.
  • The Hedonist: Reice's life revolves around having fun, developing a new get-rich-quick scheme or form of entertainment, or blowing the household's funds on CounterStrike skins.
  • Insistent Terminology: Light is almost always referred to as lumens by Reice and the others.
  • In the Hood: Jonny is almost never seen without his hood over his head.
  • It's All About Me: Reice constantly displays a crippling inability to understand the feelings or wellbeing of his friends as he destroys the house and the things within for fun or convenience, and will deliberately make Tyler miserable if it results in shits and giggles for him. If something needs to be done, he's generally content with ordering the others about while lazing around.
  • Jerkass: Reice is a fairly unpleasant person to be around, not just because of his complete disregard of Tyler, but also for the sheer amount of stupid things he does to entertain himself without a care in the world. Joey isn't much better, often joining in on Reice's shenanigans at Tyler's expense or joining him at hurling insults at Reice, whatever entertains him more.
  • Lack of Empathy: Reice and Joey are completely incapable of caring about any of the strife they put Tyler through, whether it be locking him out of the house, destroying his things, hindering his access to money or supplies and then mocking him about it, or terrorizing him.
  • Lethal Chef: Reice has attempted to cook before. Emphasis on attempted, because all he does is mash food together and barely follow instructions to create something inedible, stick things in cooking appliances they shouldn't be in and turn the floor into a major hazard by throwing things he doesn't need out of the cupboard and frequently breaking glassware.
  • Libation for the Dead: Jonny pours a can of Big Red for his “dead homies” not on top of a grave, but down the kitchen sink. Reice is bemused, because it's his can and Jonny didn't even drink any of it.
  • Makes Just as Much Sense in Context: Even Reice barely has any clue what's going on when he gets an idea into his head, decides to act it out and makes life hell for everyone in doing so.
  • Manchild: Reice can usually be found either playing with children's toys, committing destructive mayhem, annoying the shit out of his roommates or screaming, usually a combination of several of those factors.
  • The Millstone: If something is going to go wrong for the boys and then proceed to go even further downhill despite their attempts to fix it, Reice is more often than not the reason why the shit's hitting the fan.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Reice didn't have the heart to fill his tweets and video descriptions with vulgar humor when he had to announce Randall's death, a stark contrast to the blase attitude he had the last time the ODS crew lost a pet.
  • Only Sane Man: Tyler hates the things that his roommates get into, primarily Reice's destructive idiocy, and often voices his disapproval of and unwillingness to engage in them.
  • Parental Abandonment: According to Tyler, Jonny's parents were killed by a popcorn machine when he was younger. Reice is told this after sticking a popcorn bucket on his head and laughing.
  • Reckless Gun Usage: The number of times the boys haven't either misused firearms or shot something explosive can be counted on one's fingers. Reice has developed a fondness for torturing guns ever since he got into DIY, his magnum opus in engaging in this trope being welding the barrels of two revolvers together.
  • Rich in Dollars, Poor in Sense: Making it big as YouTubers has provided the boys (predominantly Reice, as usual) with plenty of funds for wanton destruction, inane projects and other generalised forms of mind-numbing entertainment.
  • Running Gag:
    • Reice's obsession with Princess Peach and confusing other fictional princesses for her.
    • Reice doing something idiotic and Tyler yelling "What (the fuck) is wrong with you?!" at him upon his discovery.
    • If the doorbell is going to be rung, expect it to be rung many times within the span of several seconds.
    • Reice's dad owns everything.
    • Petting Randall being treated as something masturbatory or otherwise sexual.
    • Trying to beat Halo before something happens, usually in the form of the destruction of a TV or Reice getting kicked out of an establishment.
    • One of the boys saying "You're good!" while trying to help each other transport vehicles and other bulky objects, especially if they're about to hit something.
  • Self-Deprecation: It's pretty much their modus operandi. Many videos and their descriptions will make note of the absolute lack of effort that went into them regardless of the subject, and how often they sell out and hold CSGO-related promotions. They even have a line of Supreme parody clothing called Disappointment.
  • Sixth Ranger: Jonny joined the group as a full on member in 2016.
  • Stylistic Suck: If Reice has the opportunity to make something as shitty as possible, he will take advantage of it. Inventions, visual glitches in videos, merchandise - not even the advertisements for his sponsors are safe.
  • Team Pet: Randall, the guys' cat, frequently showed up in videos as she wandered around the house and watched their antics or was forced into them, usually courtesy of Reice. Later on, the guys adopt a dog named Moose, but she is eventually replaced by a white cat named Other Cat.
  • Time Skip: Jump cuts between scenes are usually captioned with a time skip of several hours, days and at times even weeks, even if the light outside of the house doesn't change. At times, Tyler and Joey will mention that it's only been a matter of minutes or seconds despite what Reice and the captions will say.
  • Token Minority: Tyler is Mexican, and his friends constantly make jokes about it at his expense.
  • Too Dumb to Live:
    • Reice is a complete idiot whose ideas often cause destruction or get him stranded outside in the middle of nowhere, requiring Joey and Tyler to come rescue him in the few times they care enough about it.
    • Joey nearly got himself killed when he went behind a door that Reice was trying to shoot with an arrow to see if it would go through. It did, and Joey only survived getting hit in the stomach because it didn't have a proper tip and only went half an inch deep.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: Tyler's gradually been getting along better with Reice since 2020, around the same time that the pair took more of an interest in questionable inventions.
  • Trash of the Titans: The guys' houses are absolute messes, not at all helped with the amount of damage they suffer at Reice's hands. At their second house, there was a Christmas tree covered in a ridiculous amount of lights perpetually turned on and stationed in the corner of the living room, next to a pile of tinfoil balls that were used to cover the room and everything in it, and there is a room called the Box Room upstairs devoted entirely to storing opened cardboard boxes.
  • Wham Episode: The April 21, 2023 Drunk Strum, which culminated in the group getting permabanned from Twitch. On the day before, Reice announced that beloved Team Pet Randall had passed away from cancer and uploaded a memorial montage containing some of her appearances in the boys' skits amongst personal photos. Having orginally intended to go live to celebrate their current run of merch finally selling out, they decided to get even more drunk than planned to honor Randall, taking shots after donations and purchases. Eventually they found themselves doing what they did best - mindlessly destroying shit, putting themselves at risk and playing with weapons - Reice got out a crossbow and wanted to see if he could shoot an arrow all the way through a door, with Joey opting to go behind it and record from the other side, instead getting hit in the stomach. The stream went offline for several minutes, sending the chat into a panic about Joey's wellbeing before it resumed so he could show that he was alive (although bleeding profusely) and for Reice to announce that they were never doing a Drunk Strum again.
  • With Catlike Tread: Reice's attempts at being stealthy, usually while stealing Tyler's stuff, leave much to be desired. He'll usually be discovered within seconds, if not instantly, and then make a break for it even more loudly.
  • With Friends Like These...: Reice has no regard for Tyler's wellbeing, Tyler antagonizes him back in revenge, Joey is all too willing to go from neutral to swapping sides at a moment's notice for whatever amuses him more, and Jonny doesn't really care much about anyone.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Reice and Tyler decide to go to Alaska to hire a movie from one of the last Blockbusters in the US when their access to Netflix is severed after Tyler accidentally blends their modem, and are quite excited to check out Canada along the way. Barely a day after they leave, both of Alaska's Blockbusters close down on the same day and leave the only remaining one in Oregon, forcing the duo to abandon what was to be a cross-country road trip and start heading west through Colorado, additionally meaning the several hundred dollars they spent on passports were all for naught.
