Nostalgia Ruined is a UK-based Gag Dub series, in which two guys take clips from children's programmes and dub them over with crude jokes and lots of gratuitous swearing.
They mostly dub UK animated series, with Bob the Builder, Fireman Sam, and Postman Pat being the most frequent targets.
As of 2024, the YouTube channel is mostly dormant, however some clips have resurfaced on TikTok.
Tropes Ruined:
- Adaptation Amalgamation: While the Fireman Sam videos usually take footage from the 1987 and 2005 series, Elvis is frequently voiced with the deep, dopey tone of Steven Kynman's portrayal in the 2008 series.
- Bring My Brown Pants: In "Sam's Birthday!", the shock from walking into his surprise birthday party and everyone shouting makes Sam shit his pants.
- Calling Your Bathroom Breaks: In "Trev's Wheely in the Sh*t", Sam announces to Trevor that he's going for a piss behind his bus.
- It Amused Me: In "A Sh*t in a Lift!", Sam yells for Elvis to light a match to deal with the smell. Steele tries to tell him otherwise, but Sam stops him, claiming it'll be funny.
- Manchild: While Sam and Steele are mainly grumpy and swear all the time, Elvis is still his usual chipper self, but a lot less mature than in canon.
- Running Gag: The fire service getting takeaway instead of doing their job.
- Sir Swears-a-Lot: Lots of characters, even the children, swear their mouths off in every video, with Pat and Sam being the most foul-mouthed of all.
- Toilet Humour:
- "A Sh*t in a Lift!" has Bella, as the title suggests, take a shit in a lift, much to the disgust of the firefighters.
- In "Trev's Wheely in the Sh*t", Dilys farts as she falls over.
