Narancs, Tetves és Dugó is a Hungarian Gag Dub of three Pixie, Dixie and Mr. Jinks episodes, created and uploaded online between 1998 and 2001 by three Hungarian teenagers using the nicknames Thavid, aMGee and HankóG. The shorts re-interpret the eponymous trio as criminals who use lots of drugs, occasionally attempt to murder one another, or just mess with each other for no good reason. The shorts in question are "A robotkurva", "Para péntek" and "Retekegér", based on the "Mouse Trapped", "Jinks' Jinx" and "Strong Mouse".
Despite being a series of cheaply produced Gag Dub shorts that rely almost entirely on Vulgar Humor, the trilogy found a massive online popularity in the early 2000s in Hungary and became a Fountain of Memes.
The trilogy contains the following tropes:
- 420, Blaze It: Referenced in the second episode, when the mice try to ask drugs from Narancs and he responds with "I told you not to disturb me at 4:20".
- Adaptational Jerkass: In the original cartoon, Jinks shared a Friendly Enemy relationship with the two mice. Here, they have a much more tense relationship, constantly throwing insults at each other's heads and at some point the mice attempting to murder Narancs.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Surprisingly, Omlás is much more mellow than Howard was in the original. In the original short Howard visits Jinks so that he can chase the mice and encourages Jinks to do the same. Here, he just wants to share some drugs with Narancs.
- All Men Are Perverts: In the first short, the two mice are both extremely eager to have sex with the robot girl that Narancs built. Later in the same episode, Narancs is seen calling a sex line where he talks about his BDSM fantasy.
- Ambiguously Bi: Despite both being head over heels about the robot girl, some of the dialogue between Tetves and Dugó indicate that they also have sex with each other.
- Bantering Baddie Buddies: Vörös Harry and Félszemű Babilon are a pair of cat hitmen working for Don Gatto's milk mafia, who share some quips before dragging Narancs off to Don Gatto.
- Big Stupid Doo Doo Head: After throwing a series of vulgar insults at each other, one of the mice calls the other "stinky cheese".
- Bondage Is Bad: In the first short, Narancs, a mean, vulgar and depraved cat appears to be into bondage, as he calls a sex line where he describes his BDSM fantasy into the phone.
- Cats Are Mean: Narancs is a jerkass and troll, whereas Don Gatto and his henchmen are vicious criminals running a protection racket. Not that the mice are any better.
- Clothing Switch: Retek and Dugó swap clothes so that Retek can beat the crap out of Narancs while pretending to be Dugó.
- Cock Fight: The plot of the first short. Tetves and Dugó both want to have sex with the robot girl and end up fighting over her.
- Continuity Nod: The third short, "Retekegér", starts with Narancs having a nasty hangover after the drug-fuelled events of "Parapéntek". In the same short, when Retek asks Dugó whether they have any drugs, he answers that they have some leftovers from the last episode.
- Country Cousin: Tetves and Dugó's cousin Retek comes from a rural town named "Keszi"note . He speaks with an exaggerated accent that makes him The Unintelligible, he calls the piano a "wooden tractor", and is generally the Hungarian equivalent of a Half-Witted Hillbilly.
- A Dog Named "Dog": Don Gatto is a cat whose name means "Mr. Cat" in Italian.
- The Don: Don Gatto is the head of the "milk mafia", running a protection racket on the local cats.
- Dub Name Change: Mr. Jinks becomes Narancs, Pixie and Dixie become Tetves and Dugó, Howard becomes Omlás, Gus the Head Cat becomes Don Gatto, Duke and Mac become Vörös Harry and Félszemű Babilon, and Cousin Hercules becomes Retek.
- Dumb Muscle: Retek is decribed "as strong as he's stupid".
- Evil Sounds Deep: While none of the characters are good people, Don Gatto, the Big Bad of the third short, speaks with a digitally deepened voice.
- Eyepatch of Power: Félszemű Babilon, one of Don Gatto's brutish henchmen, wears an eyepatch.
- Fembot: Narancs builds a robot mouse girl to mess with the two mice.
- Head-Turning Beauty: The robot mouse looks attractive enough that Tetves and Dugó both go crazy for her.
- The Mafia: The "milk mafia" is run by an Italian cat named Don Gatto, who extorts milk from the local cats.
- Marijuana Is LSD: The conversation between Narancs and Omlás indicates that the "Jamaican ganja" they smoke has hallucinogenic effects.
- Meaningful Name: Narancs's name means "orange", referring to the colour of his fur.
- Murder Is the Best Solution: In the second short, to get Narancs's drugs for free, the mice try to murder him in various ways, such as throwing a flower pot on his head and pushing a cupboard on him.
- Nemean Skinning: Retek wears a shirt made from the fur of a leopard that he killed himself, although his recap of how that happened is near-impossible to understand.
- Noodle Incident: While reminiscing of the good old days with Tetves, Dugó mentions "We killed him too". We never learn who "he" is.
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse:
- Retek is the same size as Tetves and Dugó, but he has almost infinite strength, being able to pick up a piano and beat up three cats all by himself.
- The robot mouse is much stronger than a normal mouse — strong enough to lift up Narancs and slam him to the ground.
- Shout-Out:
- Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was a major inspiration for the drug references in the second short, with some lines directly lifted from the movie.
- The mice say that Grabowski would beat up Don Gatto in no timenote .
- When Retek shows off his bulging bicep, one of the mice reacts by saying "here comes the Alien".
- Smoky Voice: Félszemű Babilon talks with a wheezy voice, and one of his lines implies that he smokes at least two packets of cigarettes a day.
- The Stoner: Narancs's old friend Omlás is a permanently-stoned black cat who shares some of his drugs with Narancs and the mice.
- Stoners Are Funny: Omlás is a mellow, mild-mannered drug addict who constantly spits funny lines.
- Straight Gay: Omlás, the stoner cat mentions that he finds the two male mice's butts attractive, and at one point offers a blowjob to Narancs, but he shows no Camp Gay behaviour at all.
- Troll: The only reason why Narancs builds the robot girl is to mess with mice and have a good laugh about the two of them fighting.
- The Unintelligible: Retek speaks with an exaggerated rural accent that even the others don't understand him in-universe.
- Vocal Evolution: In the first short, Narancs speaks with a fairly normal, soft voice, with only switching to a raspier voice when he gets particularly malicious. In the second and third shorts, said raspy voice becomes his normal speaking voice.
- Vulgar Humor: The shorts rely heavily on swearing, references to sex, drugs, alcohol and violence, with casual sexism and the occasional racist or homophobic slur thrown in for good measure.
- World of Jerkass: Everybody in the shorts is a horrible person who casually insult each other, constantly swear, throw around slurs, and occasionally try to murder one another. The nicest of the bunch is Omlás, a mellow guy whose only crime is using lots of illegal drugs.
