Mission: Code High School is a series of videos set in a Taiwanese High School, about a boy named Davi who finds himself involved with an agency called P.O.S.T. It can be found here.


Mission: Code High School contains examples of:

  • Artificial Human: CAVs, the mooks in the series, are AI programs brought into the real world, and so is the CDU when he makes a body based off Spike's.
  • Amnesiac Hero:
    • It episode seven it is revealed that Davi is Gregory's brother and had those memories wiped when they thought Gregory would die.
    • In Afterwards episode one Spike was once Daniel, a close friend of P.O.S.T. head Charles, and had his memories wiped when Charles's death made him go rogue.
  • A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Davi suggests this to the CDU, who laughs at this theroy. Of course it turns out to be the Big Bad all along. Afterwards however reveals that it was programmed to be like this all along.
  • Back from the Dead: In the begining of episode four, Spike and Chuck tell Davi that he had died in the last episode and was brought back.
  • Bad Liar: In the first episode when Davi is asked if he played Spike's guitar, he accidentally shouted the truth before "correcting" himself.
  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: Episode six opens up with Spike fighting one, after being rendered comatse in the previous episode, to prevent the virus Gregory injected into him from taking over.
  • Battle of the Still Frames:
    • Spike fight with his evil side becames this near the end.
    • Davi vs the CDU in Afterwards episode three goes into this breifly.
  • Beam-O-War: Spike and Gregory's fight in episode six ends with this.
  • Big Bad:
    • The first season has the Big Bad Duumvirate of Gregory and mysterious voice that turns out to be the CDU. As the show goes on it becomes clear that the CDU is the dominant one and Gregory bails.
    • Afterwards however reveals that Chuck was the one who created the CDU by brainwashing Gregory.
  • Brainwashed: In Afterwards Chuck reveals that he did this to Gregory, to force him to make the CDU.
  • Bittersweet Ending: In both endings the CDU is destroyed, but the EMP damages the surronding area and Spike leaves the school never to return. Afterwards even has Gregory killed off.
  • But Now I Must Go:
    • Both endings have Spike leave the school for good, out of guilt for the danger he put Davi through and because of the damage caused by the EMP blast that was needed to destory the CDU.
    • Gregory also leaves after epsode seven.
  • Canon Discontinuity: Two different endings where created to iron out continuity errors.
    • Episode seven, along with the twist of Davi and Gregory being brothers, is part of a different continutity then the second season Afterwards.
    • Everything past 10:53 in episode six is considered not part of the orginal ending, due to contradictions.
  • Cerebus Syndrome: As the series goes on, it loses its video game elements with the point and click style messages disappearing after the first episode, and the RPG style turn by turn battles being replaced by real time dynamic battles.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: Jill the Dorm Mom completely disappears after the first episode, only receiving a brief mention in episode 2.5.
  • The Dog Was the Mastermind:
    • Season one has the CDU as the Big Bad.
    • The Afterwords' ending has Chuck is the main antagonist, with the CDU revealed as his Dragon.
  • The Dragon: Afterwards reveals the CDU is this to Chuck.
  • Dual Wielding: In episode six, Spike takes a knife from his evil side and uses it along wth his own. Evn after escaping his mind he still has the knife, which Gregry lampshades in there next confrontation.
  • Evil Former Friend: Gregory was once a P.O.S.T. agent and friend of Spike.
  • Evil Laugh: At the end of the second episode two unseen figures, which are latter revealed as Gregory and the CDU, converse then exchange these.
  • Evil Sounds Deep: The voice at the end of the episodes has a deep electronic voice. It's the CDU who's voice sounds quite higher when pretending to be a helful school program.
  • The Faceless: Spike's father Leo wears a plain white mask and when he takes it off has his back turned to the camera.
  • Fighting a Shadow: The CDU can regenerate any of his bodies after they are destroyed. The only way he loses is when the heroes destory his virtual essence with an EMP wiping out the entire school network.
  • Freudian Slip:
    • When Davi is asked if he used Spike's guitar.
    YES! Oh no no no. I mean no? [sigh].
    • He does this again in episode three.
  • The Ghost: Claire Greenfield is mentioned a few times, but never appears onscreen. The closest she comes to appearing is when her voice is heard in the end of Afterwords episode four.
  • Grand Theft Me: In Afterwards Chucks plans to merge Spike with the CDU to create the ultimate weapon.
  • Gun And Sword: When the CDU creates physical body, it wields a knife and a pistol.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Gregory does this in the sixth episode.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: ''Afterwards episode four Chuck was revealed to have built the EMP that was used to destroy the CDU.
  • Hyperactive Metabolism: Water is shown to have a healing effect.
  • I Need You Stronger: In Afterwards episode two Chuck reveals that the purpose of the CDU was to monitor Spike, and build his strength as a body to posses.
  • Insistent Terminology: When Davi and Spike get their weapons, Spike insists on calling his a "blade" and not a "knife".
  • In the Hood: Both Chuck, mooks, and the CDU wear these in conjunction with masks.
  • I Want Them Alive!: The mook in episode four is instructed not to kill Spike.
  • Jumped at the Call: When Spike suggests the idea that there might be evil lurking, Davi is immediately ready to join him, though its not clear how seriously he believes Spike.
  • Knife Fight: Episode six has Spike engage in one with his evil side, and it is the first fight to be played out in real time.
  • Lemony Narrator: The messages in the first episode act like this sometimes.
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: Davi and Spike do this sometimes on missions.
    Spike: Alright you go investigate the locker area, I'll investigate the facility.
    Davi: Wait that mean we're gonna...
    Spike: Split up
    Davi: Oh, ok
    Spike: Now move!
    • This happens again in latter in the third episode, and is lampshaded again:
    Davi: Splitting up again [growls].
  • Light 'em Up: One of Spike's attacks is Light Command, a brilliant flash that damages his enemies.
  • Locked Door: Davi encounters one in the beginning of the first episode.
  • Malevolent Masked Men:
    • the CDU in human form. In episode seven it has a silver mask with green eyes, while Afterwards has it wear a featureless charcoal-grey mask.
    • Chuck the mole who wears a bandana and sunglasses.
    • Inverted with Spike's father Leo, who wears a plain white mask but is a good guy.
  • Mandatory Unretirement: Spike's father Leo is forced out of retirment in Afterwards episode two, but he is able to convince POST to leave them alone in exchange.
  • The Mentor: Spike is the one who introduces Davi to P.O.S.T. and trains him to be an agent.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: When Davi tells Spike that he is hanging around to much with Claire Greenfield, the scene cuts to outside of the door and we hear sounds of thumps and bangs, a subtitle that says "getting beat up", and then Spike pulling out a chainsaw. The next scene has a voice laugh that nothing like that would actually happen.
  • Parking Garage:
    • In episode seven Davi is told by Spike to meet him in one of these who turns out to be the CDU in disguise.
    • In Afterwards episode three Chuck and the CDU teleport Spike into one for the latter to assimilate him.
  • The Paralyzer: In Afterwards episode two when Spike attacks Chuck who reaveled his plan with the CDU he pulls out his cell phone and paralyzes him with a high frequency noise.
  • Post-Victory Collapse: In ''Afterwards episode four Spike after using the EMP to destroy the CDU. Thankfully his dad Leo is there to save him from Chuck.
  • Series Continuity Error:
    • Episode three has Davi suddenly know about P.O.S.T., which is why 2.5 had to be made.
    • The end of episode six has Davi talking to Gregory, yet episode seven has him shocked that he is on there side. This is why everything past 10:53 in episode 6 is considered not part of this ending.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Spikes acts this way whenever Claire Greenfield is mentioned.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Claire Greenfield is this to Claire Redfield from Resident Evil.
    • A mook from episode four makes many references to Darth Vader from Star Wars as well as one to Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, complete with actual voice clips from the characters.
    • The scene where Davi finishes the mook in episode six, has them copy the "This Is Sparta" scene from 300.
    • In Afterwords episode one, the scene where CDU disguised as Spike shots Davi, mirrors the opening of Mega Man X7.
    • The end of the fight between Spike and Chuck has paralles between Terry as Batman's confrontation with the Joker in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: In episode three, Gregory beats Davi this way.
  • Sinister Shades:
    • Gregory Stars that is until his Heel Face Turn.
    • Narcissus the mook in the second episode wears them with a hood and handkerchief as does Chuck the real Big Bad.
  • Social Darwinist: Chuck and the CDU planned to destroy the world, only sparring a few "naturally selected" people.
  • Sword Sparks: Whenever swords clash, lightning bolts appears.
  • Take That!: In the second episode an orange circle based The Annoying Orange appears, only to be killed by Spike. When Davi asks Spike what he thinks of Fred, Spike hits Davi.
  • Status Effects: The mook in episode four inflicts blindness on Spike.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Right: When Spike saves Davi from Gregory, he teleports away.
  • The Voice:
    • An ominous voice at the end of the first seasons episodes, often speaking with Gregory. It's the CDU.
    • Charles the POST director only appears in audio files and video commincations with his face obscure.
    • Claire Greenfield's voice is heard in the end of Afterwords episode four.
  • Welcomed to the Masquerade: In episode 2.5, Spike explains P.O.S.T. to Davi.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Chuck and the CDU planned to destroy the world, hoping to rebuild it from scratch.
  • White Mask of Doom: Inverted with Spike's father Leo, who wears a plain white mask but is a good guy.
