"State your name and what you need."

Merry Maidens is a web series adaptation of Robin Hood created by Oh For Cute! Productions. It reimagines Robin Hood and his Merry Men as a gender flipped group of college students at Nottingham College.

Merry Maidens contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change:
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Scarlet is Robin's younger cousin who just came to Nottingham as a freshman, and she's still a probationary member of the Merry Maidens until the end of the series.
  • Cast Full of Gay: Robin is a lesbian, Marian and Jo are bi, and Tuck is asexual and in a relationship with Miller. Alana and Scarlet's sexualities are never specified, but Robin does mention at one point that none of the Merry Maidens are straight.
  • The Faceless: Alana is always behind the camera (with one exception, but even then only her back can be seen).
  • Frame-Up: The main reason for Robin and Sheriff's animosity. Robin was involved with the student council along with Marian and Sheriff as a freshman, and decided to throw an epic birthday party for Marian. Sheriff offered to pay for it, but used student council funds that, as treasurer, he had access to. When the misuse of funds came out, he blamed Robin for it, and she got kicked off the student council and her relationship with Marian fell apart.
  • Fun with Subtitles: Some of the funnier examples can be found in this post.
  • Gender Flip: As per the title, the Merry Men are now the Merry Maidens.
  • Just Like Robin Hood: To be expected, given the premise, but with a Setting Update: The Merry Maidens steal textbooks and give them to students who can't afford them.
  • Ladykiller in Love: Robin is actually serious about Marian, which is unusual for her.
  • Last-Name Basis: All of the Merry Maidens call Connor Sheriff by his last name. Marian usually calls him Connor, but slips into calling him Sheriff later on after she's been spending a lot of time with the Merry Maidens and he's started showing his jerk side in front of her.
  • Love Triangle: Robin and Sheriff are both interested in Marian, which definitely contributes to their animosity toward each other.
  • Nepotism: Sheriff's uncle is the interim dean, and he's been embezzling school funds to give Sheriff a scholarship.
  • Pungeon Master: Tuck.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The Merry Maidens.
  • Really Gets Around: Robin has a lot of casual hook-ups, which makes Marian apprehensive about entering a relationship with her because she doesn't want to be just another fling.
  • Team Chef: Miller's baking is half of what brought the Merry Maidens together. She wants to go to pastry school, but is majoring in chemistry instead because that's the closest option at the school.
  • Vlog Series: Part of the series takes the form of videos from Marian's vlog, "Marian of the Forest."
