"I hope dis has bin da best Minute of yer life, and as always, go Packers, and f*** da Bears!"

Manitowocnote  Minute, self-styled as "the number 1 most reliable news show in the Midwest", is a satirical YouTube news show created by Wisconsinite comedian Charlie Berens. It is hosted by the Manitowoc Minute Man (played by Berens himself).

According to Berens, the Manitowoc Minute Man character was developed out of his experiences as a local TV news anchor. He decided that to create the character he would take everything people said he was doing wrong (primarily his thick Wisconsin accent) and amplify it, creating a caricature of the average Midwesterner in the process.

The Minute is usually not actually a minute long, and chronicles a variety of the weird and wacky goings-on found around the Midwest in a parodic news-style format. At the end of each episode comes the Craigslist Kicker, in which the Manitowoc Minute Man displays some of the weirdest things Midwesterners are selling on Craigslist.

Oh my gosh, lookit all dese tropes!

  • Flyover Country: The show extends its scope to all of the Midwest, not just Wisconsin like the logo suggests, and rural humor involving it is a cornerstone of the series.
  • Kent Brockman News: The Manitowoc Minute Man frequently digresses into anecdotes about his personal life, which are all usually stereotypically Midwestern things to do(ice fishing for walleyes, hunting deer, drinking Old Fashioneds, etc.) He's also not the most professional of newscasters, often adding his personal opinions into the mix.
  • Minnesota Nice: A big portion of the humor comes from the Manitowoc Minute Man's thick and heavy Midwestern accent and extreme politenessnote .
  • Once an Episode:
    • At the beginning of every episode, the Manitoc Minute Man will claim that the episode is sponsored by a local Midwestern business, typically a store that sells something outlandish or with a funny sign out front.
    • The "Craigslist Kicker" appears at the end of each episode, in which the Manitowoc Minute Man showcases some of the wackiest Midwestern Craigslist listings he could find.
  • Signing Off Catchphrase: Each episode ends with the Manitowoc Minute Man saying "And as always, go Packers, and f*** da Bears!"note
  • Verbal Tic: The Manitowoc Minute Man's thick accent means he peppers his speech with a lot of Midwestern phrases, including "Oh my gosh", "Or naw", "Keep 'er movin'", and of course, "Ope".
