This abridged series contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change:
    • From Wolfwrath to the Powerfully Observant Overachieving Knight Incinerator, or P.O.O.K.I. for short.
    • Masher is named Big Whelma here.
  • All Just a Dream: The ending of The Merv Came Back reveals that the events were dreamt by Escargoon. And that Merv was his imaginary friend. Then reveals to be a dream inside of Kawasaki's dream.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Done in every episode.
  • British Humour: Almost every time that Kirby is thinking.
  • Catchphrase: Almost all of the characters get one.
  • Christmas Episode: Three so far.
    • How the Dedede Stole Christmas.
    • Dedede's Christmas Carol.
    • Chilly the Snowman.
  • Creepy Monotone: On You Can't Abridged That on TV, everyone hypnotized by Dedede talks in monotone.
  • Fire-Breathing Diner: Kawasaki's meme food.
  • Just a Stupid Accent: For Kirby and Dedede, but Meta Knight's was removed.
  • Manipulative Editing: Done to create scenes where the dialogue makes sense, often looping a single animation for more words to be said.
  • No Ending: Happens in Episode 3, when the creators realize they ran out of production money at the end of the episode and Koopa Media 64 decides to put on the Nyan Cat video in an attempt to make up for it (despite Pretty Kitty 13's objections).
  • Noodle Incident: The walnut skit.
  • "Not Making This Up" Disclaimer: The show will occasionaly use 4Kids' script, with the captions 'Actual 4Kids dialogue.' at the bottom of the screen.
  • Rank Up: What Sword and Blade act like happened when they think Meta Knight died.
  • Reference Overdosed: It happens in such a way that if you don't know what's being refrenced, and it isn't outright pointed out, you aren't likely to notice.
    • Many Day of The Tentacle references are made, usually in the form of sound effects, but once in an actual quote.
    • Episode 27, Mangey and Me, has many references, most notable being Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, World of Tanks, Mortal Kombat, and DOOM.
    • The Christmas special where Dedede steals Christmas has Tuff directly mentioning SSX.
    • Episode 32 is littered with references, notable examples being Star Wars, Star Trek, Age of Empires, and Pokemon. The following two episodes, and Episode 32 itself, are named after the Original Star Wars trilogy.
  • Running Gag:
  • Selective Obliviousness: All of the Cappies (minus Tiff and Tuff) are in such denial about the fact that they're about to be destroyed by an incoming meteor in episode 16 that they go as far as to walk while happily saying things like "We're not all gonna die!"
  • Take That!: Some of the jokes are towards 4kids' censorship.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: There are two instances where Iro dies and comes back to life in the next episode he appears in. Lampshaded by Tuff in It's Not Delievery, It's Dedede.
  • Tempting Fate: In N. M. E. Strikes Back, on the way home after dealing with the rest of the miniature monster. Tuff says that things can't get any worse, then Big Whelma shows up. Meta Knight calls him out for it.
  • Unexplained Recovery: Just before becoming Mike Kirby, Kirby is somehow back to his regular size.
  • Vacuum Mouth: Every time that Kirby inhales something, usually with a snarky remark on his or Tiff's behalf.
  • Yet Another Christmas Carol: The second Christmas special is even titled Dedede's Christmas Carol.
