"I don't ride, I drive."

Kamen Driver is The Abridged Series for Kamen Rider Drive, made by ProtoDubs. Much like Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: The Abridged Series (with which it shares its cast and universe), it follows the basic plot of Drive while parodying it. The name of the series is derived from an argument between Shinnosuke and Kiriko about the accuracy of his alias, with him arguing that he drives a car rather than riding anything and therefore he should be called a Kamen Driver.

Watch here.

Kamen Driver has examples of:

  • The Abridged Series: For Kamen Rider Drive.
  • All Men Are Perverts: Shinnosuke and Kyu immediately agree when Kazuhiro asks to paint Kiriko in the nude.
  • The Cameo:
    • At the end of the first episode, Emu shows up to complain about Shinnosuke trying to steal his schtick.
    • Shinnosuke from this series also cameos in Chou Super Hero Taisen: The Abridged Movie, but gets interrupted before he can finish his catchphrase.
    • "Sad Ex-Aid" also makes a handful of cameos.
  • Captain Obvious Revealinvoked: As Kiriko points out, Kazuhiro being the Paint Roidmude is this since they're both creeps with the exact same voice.
  • Catchphrase:
    • Mr. Belt's catchphrase from the original ("Start your engine!") is largely intact. He also tends to say, "irrelevant," whenever Shinnosuke brings up something that Mr. Belt would rather say little about.
    • Rather than "You're coming along for the ride!" from the original show, Shinnosuke's catchphrase is "You're cruising for a bruising!"
    • Emu's cameo at the end of episode 1 naturally has him say, "I'm the only winner here."
  • Comedic Sociopathy: Honganji insensitively remarks that the numerous dead people reported to him were probably killed because they weren't wearing his lucky color, which Shinnosuke lampshades as coldblooded.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: Gen thinks all Roidmude activity is the government trying to distract people from "the frogs."
  • Crossover: The ending skit of Bugster Bros episode 20 crosses over Kamen Driver with Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: The Abridged Series.
  • Cue the Flying Pigs: Kiriko's reaction to Shinnosuke acting more mature than usual.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Like the actual Shinnosuke, abridged Shinnosuke exhibits some of this in his fight banter. Unlike him, this Shinnosuke's sarcasm is more sporadic and he's more prone to references and lame one-liners.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Technically, this show's version of Heart made his debut in the role of Superintendent Chalmers for a Steamed Hams video.
  • Follow the Leaderinvoked: Emu appears at the end of episode one to accuse Shinnosuke of doing this to Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: The Abridged Series and then say his catchphrase.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: In episode one, Kyu shows his iPad screen, and it briefly shows that he's texting Mage note , who sent him Sad Ex-Aid.
  • Innocent Innuendo: Shinnosuke has mistaken innocuous statements for innuendo a few times.
    • When Kiriko tells him that a Density Shift has occurred, he thinks she's talking about the Raging Stiffie he's trying to hide.
    • He tells Mr. Belt to watch his language when the latter announces the name of the Funky Spike Shift Car.
    • The Shift Car named Massive Monster gets exactly the reaction you'd expect.
  • Intelligible Unintelligible: Zig-Zagged. Shinnosuke can't understand the long monologues that Dream Vegas makes and only hears beeping sounds. Mr. Belt, on the other hand, can understand them perfectly, and even gets tearful at one of Dream Vegas's speeches. Both are surprised to learn that the other can(not) understand the Shift Cars. Shinnosuke starts learning the Shift Cars' language afterwards, but still struggles to understand them completely.
  • Jerkass: Shinnosuke's introduction includes a caption labeling him as "Egotistical Jerk". He kinda is, albeit not as much as Emu.
  • Kinky Cuffs: Shinnosuke thinks’s Kiriko’s are this.
    Shinnosuke: What’s the safe word?
  • Lazy Bum: Shinnosuke starts off episode 2 being extremely tired from his hard work as a Kamen Driver, even though Kiriko points out that he's only transformed once so far.
  • Literal Music Video: The "Kamen Driver Opening Sung By Mage!" has a lot of this going on.
  • Luminescent Blush: Kiriko sports some when Shinnosuke gets serious about finding the perp for the first case.
  • Manchild: Shinnosuke, big time. Though he's still trying to be a better hero despite it.
  • Mr. Exposition: Mr. Belt tries to be this, but half the time, Shinnosuke either doesn't understand or he understands that it's just a fancy way of saying, "I don't know."
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Kiriko makes an awesome Shut Up, Hannibal! speech of defiance against the Paint Roidmude who traumatized her during the Global Freeze and fires her gun at him… and he just stops the bullet, knocks her Shift Car off, and starts turning her into a painting again.
  • Non-Indicative Name:
    • Shinnosuke insists that his alias as "Kamen Rider" is this since he drives his vehicle rather than riding it.
    • As Chase points out, his "Grim Reaper" title is this since he can't destroy Roidmude Cores, meaning Shinnosuke has a higher body count than him.
  • Not Helping Your Case: When Chase debuts to avenge the death of one of his fellow Roidmudes at the hands of the Kamen Driver, Mr. Belt corrects him, saying that they've killed approximately four of his kind, not one.
  • Raging Stiffie: Shinnosuke tries to hide his when Kiriko shows up while he's arguing with Mr. Belt.
  • Safe Word: With Kiriko, there is none.
  • Serious Business: This is how Shinnosuke feels about what his alter-ego should be named.
  • Shared Universe: With Kamen Rider Ex-Aid: The Abridged Series, Kamen Rider Ghost: The Dead Abridged Series, and YugiohKetchup's Kamen Rider Gaim Abridged Oneshot for #TIBA 2016. They're all part of the Toku Abridged Cinematic Universe, or TACU (pronounced taco).
  • Shout-Out:
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Shinnosuke believes that Kiriko confronted the Paint Roidmude alone so that he would use a Density Shift against her and Shinnosuke could be alerted to their presence. Kiriko is in no rush to tell him that she actually ended up losing her Shift Car and was about to be a Damsel in Distress.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: Kiriko, though it's mostly Shinnosuke whose idiocy she deals with.
  • Take a Third Option: Although he and Kiriko are still in disagreement about their "Kamen Rider vs. Kamen Driver" debate, when he resolves to be a better hero for her sake, he calls himself Kamen Rider Drive…r.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Mr. Belt quickly realizes that Shinnosuke might not be the best choice for a host body.
  • Toilet Humor: After defeating the Paint Roidmude, Shinnosuke laughs at the "golden shower" of sparkles that resulted. Kiriko is not amused.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Kiriko and Dream Vegas have both called out Shinnosuke on his poor performance and lackadaisical attitude, especially since Kiriko has really been counting on him to be the hero they need.
  • What Would X Do?: After getting captured by the Paint Roidmude, Kiriko tries to think of what Shinnosuke would say. Nothing that comes to mind is useful.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: When Shinnosuke resolves to try more to be as heroic as Proto-Drive, he calls himself a Kamen Rider, which Kiriko thinks means he's finally dropped the "Kamen Driver" thing. Then he refers to himself as Kamen Rider Driver, much to her frustration.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: When Kiriko's brave stand against the Paint Roidmude becomes a Negated Moment of Awesome, this is her reaction.
